City Circle's RENT to Open this Friday, 8/2

RENT opens Friday, August 2 at 7:30 pm at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts. Presented by City Circle Acting Company of Coralville, RENT will be performed August 2 and 3 at 7:30 pm and August 4 at 2 pm.

Primary Stages, in association with Ted Snowdon, launches their 29th season with the New York premiere of Harbor at Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters. Written by Tony-nominated Chad Beguelin (Elf, The Wedding Singer) and directed by Tony-nominated director Mark Lamos (Seascape, The Rivals, The Deep Blue Sea), the production features Erin Cummings (Starz's 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand', ABC's 'Pan Am,' CBS' 'Made In Jersey'), Randy Harrison (Showtime's 'Queer As Folk', Broadway's Wicked), Alexis Molnar (world premiere of Harbor at Westport Playhouse), and Paul Anthony Stewart (Broadway's Fiddler on the Roof, The People in the Picture). Aunque nuestro teatro musical patrio va viento en popa -pese a que decenas de compañias tengan que lidiar con teatros vacios y presupuestos esqueleticos- parece que nadie habla de ello en nuestros medios de comunicacion. Y cuando alguien lo hace es para alabar algun titulo o tratar de forma superflua el auge de los musicales en nuestras carteleras. Ya se sabe -por desgracia- que casi nadie habla de lo que no es negocio, aunque los periodicos intenten disimularlo. Asi que yo, humildemente, y sin ninguna intencion de sentar catedra ni crear evangelio, voy a compartir contigo temas de los que todos hablamos y reflexionamos pero sobre los que pocas veces se escribe. He decidido el titulo de The Safety Curtain porque me parece uno de los elementos mas simbolicos de una representacion teatral: entre otras cosas, protege al publico durante los cambios de escena. Se trata de una barrera util, entre la obra y el publico, y asi es BroadwayWorld Spain… un intermediario entre el mundo del espectaculo y su publico al que protege, cuida y mima. O al menos lo intentamos. Muchas gracias, espero que disfrutes.

Nicola has announced that Fetch Clay, Make Man, written by Will Power and directed by Des McAnuff, will begin performances Friday, August 23 at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. Opening night is set for Thursday, September 12 at 7pm. Fetch Clay, Make Man is scheduled to run through Sunday, October 13; tickets are on sale now.
