Before Rent, there was tick, tick... Boom! This autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning composer of Rent, is the story of a composer and the sacrifices that he made to achieve his big break in theatre. The musical, produced by KWP Productions, will run from November 4th through November 11th at the Bhetty Waldron Theater at Bob Carter's Actor's Workshop and Repertory Company in West Palm Beach.  

Opera on Tap has announced its most innovative project yet: an episodic horror opera created for Virtual Reality, entitled The Parksville Murders.

New York, New York: National Alliance for Musical Theatre (Betsy King Militello, Executive Director) is thrilled to announce the first round of casting for the 28th Annual FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, which takes place on Today, October 27 and Friday, October 28, 2016 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). The Festival will kick off on Wednesday, October 26 with its celebrated concert, The 46th Minute, which features songs from Festival shows you will not get to hear in the 45-minute presentation.

Today Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein announced that tickets are now on sale for four more weeks, through December 18th, for Keen's acclaimed new production of Jonathan Larson's Tick, Tick...BOOM! Ciara Renee will play her final performance on November 20th. Beginning November 22nd, Lilli Cooper, seen on Broadway in Spring Awakening and Wicked, will take over the role of Susan.

Sarasota Opera and the Hermitage Artist Retreat in Englewood, FL will collaborate once again on a series of talks to be held at the Sarasota Opera House.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2016 TRU Love Benefit, Embracing the Unlimited: A Celebration of Inclusion in the Arts, and an initial lineup of top performers for the event have been announced, led by Hamilton's Brandon Victor Dixon, Jay Armstrong Johnson and Tony winner Tonya Pinkins.

Penn State School of Theatre presented the musical Be More Chill, with music and lyrics by Joe Iconis and book by Joe Tracz. Be More Chill was first produced at Two River Theatre in New Jersey, where it was given its world premiere. Penn State's production is the first since that premiere - and ran October 4-15, 2016 in the Playhouse Theatre. Scroll down for photos from the production!

The Season 4 finale of Joel B. New's musical theatre podcast 'Something New' took to the stage in the form of a livestream concert on Saturday, October 8th. An audio recording of the event has been exclusively released to BroadwayWorld on October 24th and will be available on all podcast platforms starting October 31st.

Keen Company's new production of Jonathan Larson's Tick, Tick... BOOM!,  is now playing at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues) . The show will continue through November 20th only. 

While Jonathan Larson's RENT, his 1996 East Village adaptation of Giacomo Puccini, Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa's LA BOHEME, presents a romanticized look at bohemians living in poverty for the sake of their art, his TICK, TICK… BOOM!, now getting a superb Off-Broadway revival via Keen Company, is more of a reality check.
