Gypsy Tony Award for Best Revival Sells for $26,798

The 1990 Tony Award for Best Revival awarded to producer Barry Brown for Gypsy sold last night for $26,798 at Nate D. Sanders Auctions. The musical Gypsy, with lyrics written by Stephen Sondheim, premiered in 1959. The play was critically acclaimed and is considered by many critics to be the greatest musical of all-time.

Playwrights Horizons presents Indian Summer, the world premiere of a new play by Gregory S. Moss (Reunion, punkplay, Billy Witch, La Brea, Orange Hat Grace, House of Gold), directed by Carolyn Cantor (Fly by Night, The Great God Pan, After the Revolution, Essential Self-Defense at PH; Pumpgirl; Orange Flower Water; Stone Cold Dead Serious). Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons, the play is the sixth and final production of the theater company's acclaimed 2015/2016 Season. The limited engagement will play through Sunday evening, June 26 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

The story is based on William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Directed by Christopher Ashley, with choreography by Ken Roberson, the original Broadway cast included Cheyenne Jackson (Chad), Jenn Gambatese (Natalie Haller/'Ed'), and Jonathan Hadary (Jim Haller).

Signature's INCIDENT AT VICHY and NIGHT IS A ROOM to Play Final Performances This Week

The Signature Theatre productions of Arthur Miller's Incident at Vichy, directed by Michael Wilson, and Naomi Wallace's Night is a Room, directed by Bill Rauch, will both play their final performances this Sunday, December 20 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). The twice-extended Incident at Vichy was named to Time Magazine's Top 10 Plays/Musicals of the Year, while Night is a Room, also extended, was called an "audacious jaw-dropper" by The New York Times.
