Variety reports that Katie Holmes is set to star in Miramax Films' 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark,' a thriller that is scripted by Guillermo del Toro and Matthew Robbins.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced additional casting today for the Shakespeare in the Park production of TWELFTH NIGHT, directed by Daniel Sullivan. Herb Foster will play Valentine; Kevin Kelly will play Sea Captain; Tony nominee Stark Sands will play Sebastian; Baylen Thomas will play Curio; Jon Patrick Walker will play Fabian; and Tony Award winner Julie White will play Maria. TWELFTH NIGHT will feature original music by symphonic folk-rock band Hem.

Katie Holmes enjoyed the success of her Broadway debut in All My Sons and proved skeptics wrong by handling the pressures of performing on the Great White Way with passion and ease, proving she was a natural for the New York stage.

The 2007 New York Musical Theatre Festival present Like Love, a new musical with book and lyrics by Barry Jay Kaplan and music by Lewis Flinn. Directed by Lisa Rothe, Like Love plays at the TBG Theatre.

The Manhattan Chamber of Commerce will dedicate an entire city block, between 73rd and 74th Streets on Third Avenue to celebrate New York City Theater at the 32nd Annual Third Avenue Community Benefit Street Fair, to be held on Sunday, September 9 from 11AM to 5:30PM.

The 2007 New York Musical Theatre Festival and Dennis Grimaldi Productions present Like Love, a new musical with book and lyrics by Barry Jay Kaplan and music by Lewis Flinn. Directed by Lisa Rothe, Like Love plays at the TBG Theatre, 312 West 36th Street (between 8th and 9th Ave) beginning September 20.

Musicals Tonight! will continue its ongoing salute to Broadway and Off-Broadway Standbys and Understudies with its current edition of At This Performance…, this Monday, April 23rd at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre, 2162 Broadway, (above the Promenade Theatre- Broadway at 76th Street), 3rd Floor at 8 PM.

The 13th performance of High Fidelity, also being the press performance I attended, wound up being the show's final night on Broadway. A pity. I much prefer reviewing enjoyable musicals than eulogizing them.
