If Your Lie in April follows the same patterns as Death Note, it won’t be the last time we hear of this iteration. It would be absolutely wonderful to see both of them completely realised as full production at last. The demand is there and the West End should take note.

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) has named conductor and composer Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT) as the institution's Distinguished Professor of Music. To celebrate MTT’s artistic achievements in the year of his 80th birthday, SFCM's allied record label PENTATONE will release a box set collection of 18 MTT compositions in the fall of 2024.

After selling out 3 shows at the London Palladium in just hours and announcing an unprecedented immediate transfer to another West End Theatre, the Lyric, for 6 additional shows, Death Note THE MUSICAL in Concert today adds a 10th show due to overwhelming public demand.

Emmy Award-winning actress and singer Hannah Waddingham will present an evening of orchestral works from film, television and gaming, from titles including Harry Potter, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones and World of Warcraft. The BBC Concert Orchestra led by their new Chief Conductor, Anna-Maria Helsing, will be joined by Mezzo Soprano Felicity Buckland and The Huddersfield Choral Society.

Death Note: The Musical has made its European debut at the London Palladium, before transferring to the Lyric Theatre from 7 to 11 September.

It’s definitely not your regular staged concert. While there isn’t as much character exploration in this instance, the fact-driven numbers are enough to give a morsel of what a complete production could do.
