Houston Symphony Executive Director & CEO Mark C. Hanson Tapped to Lead San Francisco Symphony

The Houston Symphony announced today that Mark C. Hanson, its Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer, will step down from his role this summer to join the San Francisco Symphony as Executive Director. Hanson, who has been at the orchestra's helm since May 2010 and holds the Margaret Alkek Williams Executive Director/CEO Chair, will begin his new post on September 1.

On Saturday, July 15, at 8 p.m., BSO Music Director Andris Nelsons leads the Boston Symphony Orchestra in one of the great highlights of the 2017 Tanglewood season: the orchestra's first-ever complete concert performance of Wagner's epic Das Rheingold, the first of the four dramas from Wagner's masterpiece Der Ring des Nibelungen, and a tour de force milestone for the festival.

The Richmond County Orchestra (RCO), under the direction of Maestro Alan Aurelia, presents: Celebrate America: Patriotic Concert, a patriotic compilation of songs honoring our nation's rich musical heritage. The show is sponsored by Gateway Community Outreach on the ground of The Church at Gateway. The program includes a full orchestral performance of favorites such as God Bless America, sung by RCO fan favorite Alison Madill; Stars and Stripes Forever, God Bless the USA with some equally poignant songs performed by Pastor Timothy J. Has Harry Potter reached cult classic level yet? It certainly seemed to last night. Presented by the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts and Attila Glatz Concert Productions, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Justin Freer) was joined by the Women's Chorus from Amadeus Choir and the Elmer Iseler Singers to present HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE IN CONCERT. Performing to an adoring crowd of hardcore fans, the Sony Centre was buzzing with Potter-mania.
