Peak Performances is pleased to welcome back Doug Elkins, whom The New York Times calls "one of the most witty, musical and inventive choreographers of his generation," and his company, doug elkins choreography, etc., in an evening-length program of new and acclaimed works, April 20-23 at the Alexander Kasser Theater at Montclair State University.

Choreographer Trisha Brown has died on March 18th in San Antonio, Texas, after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her son, Adam Brown, his wife Erin, her four grandchildren – and by her brother Gordon Brown and sister Louisa Brown. Trisha Brown's husband, artist Burt Barr, died on November 7, 2016. 

2017 marks the 6th Anniversary of PoetryLife weekend, bringing together nationally recognized poets, students, teachers, and community members all in one place to celebrate the art of the written word. Events will take place in FST's Bowne's Lab and Keating Theatre. Special guest poets Edward Hirsh and Aimee Nezhukumatathil will be participating in this year's PoetryLife Weekend. The Joe Goode Performance Group, in partnership with Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, celebrates three decades of innovative dance-theater and inspiring artistry this June 22-24, 2017 at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater.

Some of the biggest names on the jazz circuit-including Miller audience favorites Warren Wolf and Miguel Zenon-come together to form the inimitable collective SFJAZZ. This touring program celebrates one of the genre's greats: Miles Davis. The band's explorations of this rich repertoire make it feel fresh once more, as revelatory and innovative as it sounded when Miles issued his first records back in the 1940s and 50s. 

Betty Cuningham Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new sculptures and drawings by Mia Westerlund Roosen.  This will be the artist's fourth exhibition with the Gallery, located at 15 Rivington Street, New York, NY. The artist will be present for an opening reception on Today, February 25 from 4 -7 PM.

3A Productions presents the world premiere of Cardiff by Leila Philip and Garth Evans at The Duplex (61 Christopher Street at 7the Avenue) January 25 through 28, 2017. Directed by Andrew Resto, Cardiff is based on a true story.

Doug Varone and Dancers announces the Winter Intensive 2017 from Monday-Saturday, January 9-14, 2017 from 9:30am-5:30pm at Hunter College 695 Park Ave, New York, NY 10065. The Winter Intensive features classes taught by company members and a number of unique special events, providing a supportive community to challenge dancers physically and artistically.

Red Hot Mama - The Sophie Tucker Songbook - is the story of the first lady of show business, the 'Last of the Red Hot Mamas', whose remarkable career spanned sixty years.  It contains the music and history of burlesque, vaudeville, Broadway and Las Vegas, in a critically acclaimed One-Woman Off-Broadway musical biography of the entertainment legend, written by and starring Tony Award Nominee Sharon McNight.   The LA Times reported, 'McNight gives the performance of a lifetime as 'The Last of the Red Hot Mamas'.

Doug Varone and Dancers proudlyreceived a National Dance Project (NDP) Touring Award from the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) which will support the company's United States tours of in the shelter of the fold during the eighteen-month tour period of June 1, 2017 - November 30, 2018.
