Center for Puppetry Arts Sets 2016-17 Season
by Tyler Peterson - Mar 30, 2016

Highlights of the 2016-2017 Family Series include the brand-new puppet production of Pete the Cat, adapted from the widely popular and imaginative book series by Atlanta artist James Dean. Inspired by Dean's real-life cat, Pete pounces from the page to the stage as his laid-back, easy-going spirit takes him and his fine friends on a host of groovy adventures including surfing, skateboarding and playing guitar. Pete goes with the flow, and his positive outlook carries him through whatever obstacles come his way. Also debuting is an original production for children ages 2 and older, Old MacDonald's Farm. This Theatre for the Very Young production is a barnyard bonanza of fun and furry animals. Soaring back to the Center's Mainstage for its seventh consecutive holiday season is the Center's own beloved adaptation of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

If Major General Benjamin Franklin Butler hadn't been a lawyer, he might have tried his hand at psychotherapy, particularly talk therapy. by Matt Tamanini - Feb 14, 2016

Just in case you were worried that the 15 years between ZOOLANDER 2 and the original male model comedy would lessen the latter's wacky sense of humor, fear not, ZOOLANDER 2 is every bit as stupid as the original, and for fans of the first film, that might be enough to overcome the lack of originality in the sequel's extremely thin plot.

BWW Review: Tantalizing Life Tidbits Well Shared in SAFE AT HOME: An Evening With Orson Bean
by Shari Barrett - Feb 7, 2016

To those of us called Baby Boomers, we grew up being entertained by television shows everyone in the family could enjoy together. There was the Ed Sullivan Show, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, and many others too numerous to name. I remember watching To Tell the Truth and attempting to guess along with the panelists, one of whom was Orson Bean, who added his own humorous stamp to the show for eight years. So when I heard that his one-man show "Safe at Home, An Evening with Orson Bean" was being presented at Pacific Resident Theatre in Venice (where he has been a long-time member), I knew the stories he was going to share would be extremely humorous. And, as it turns out, deeply insightful into how he survived and thrived in the entertainment industry for so many years.
