You don't go into a show called The Annotated History of the American Muskrat without some very specific preconceptions. While you may have no idea what the piece is actually going to be about, you know it's probably safe to say that it isn't about to be your standard Tennessee Williams drama. The Circuit Theatre Company's production of this brand new show, written for them by Boston playwright John Kuntz, certainly fulfilled the preconceived notions that filled my head.

Huntington Theatre Company announces its 2014-2016 cohort of Huntington Playwriting Fellows: Mia Chung, John J King, Sam Marks, and Nina Louise Morrison.
This artistically diverse group of writers begin their two-year residency in September. Past Huntington Playwriting Fellows include Ronan Noone (The Atheist, Brendan, and the upcoming The Second Girl), Lydia R. Diamond (Smart People, Stick Fly), Melinda Lopez (Becoming Cuba, Sonia Flew), Kirsten Greenidge (Luck of the Irish), Ryan Landry (Ryan Landry's "M"), and Rosanna Yamagiwa Alfaro (Before I Leave You) to name a few.

The Circuit Theatre Company, a critically-acclaimed, IRNE-nominated company run and operated by young theatre artists from across the country, is celebrating its fifth season by presenting three epic productions that explore questions of history, identity, and personal narrative in America. Now more than ever, Circuit hopes to celebrate the voice of young artists in Boston, while pushing the boundaries of what theatre can do and be. The season will feature the world premiere of an as-of-yet untitled new play by John Kuntz, commissioned by Circuit, at the Boston Center for the Arts. Its season will also include the Boston premieres of 'The Walk Across America for Mother Earth' by A.R.T favorite Taylor Mac and Ellen Maddow and 'Welcome to Arroyo's' by Kristoffer Diaz (playwright of 'The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity') at the OBERON. All three shows are entirely produced, directed, designed, and acted by young theatre professionals.

Terrence McNally's recent Tony-nominated play MOTHERS AND SONS will be the final show in SpeakEasy Stage Company's 24th Season, the theatre's Producing Artistic Director Paul Daigneault announced today. MOTHERS AND SONS will play for five weeks, May 8 - June 6, 2015, in the Roberts Studio Theatre in the Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts.

A reimagining of the Broadway musical BIG FISH, the New England Premiere of the comedy BAD JEWS, the Boston Premiere of the acclaimed musical FAR FROM HEAVEN, and two World Premiere plays - NECESSARY MONSTERS by John Kuntz and A FUTURE PERFECT by Ken Urban - are among the six productions that SpeakEasy Stage Company will present during its 2014-2015 Season.
