What did our critic think of OUR TOWN at Lyric Stage Company Of Boston? What makes all worthwhile productions of “Our Town,” like this one, work is what makes the play itself endure. We can relate to Wilder’s characters and connect with their experiences, making the play truly our story in “Our Town.”

Lyric Stage Boston will open its 2025–2026 season with Thornton Wilder’s classic drama OUR TOWN, directed by Producing Artistic Director Courtney O’Connor. Performances run September 19–October 19, 2025 at the Lyric Stage Theater in Boston.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) and Steven Maler, Artistic Director, announce the complete cast and creative team for this summer's production of Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth on the Boston Common.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) and Artistic Director Steven Maler are pleased to announce the cast and creative team of Free Shakespeare on the Common in the summer of 2022 - William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Megan Sandberg-Zakian. Performances will begin on The Boston Common on Wednesday, July 20 at 8PM (with press opening on Wednesday, July 27 at 8PM) and end on Sunday, August 7.  

CSC will host a one-night-only benefit staged reading of Measure for Measure by William Shakespeare, directed by Founding Artistic Director Steven Maler. This production will feature Christian Coulson (Harry Potter, The Hours, Mozart in the Jungle, Nashville) as Angelo and features a dynamic cast of the area’s extraordinary talent. 

From January 7 to February 5, 2022, SpeakEasy Stage Company will present the New England premiere of PEOPLE, PLACES & THINGS, a raw, heartbreaking, and devastating drama about addiction, recovery, and surviving the modern world.  

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company and Artistic Director Steven Maler, have announced the cast and creative team for William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, starring the great Shakespearean actor John Douglas Thompson in the role of Prospero. 

The Huntington announces the launch of four additional titles to its series of short audio plays by local playwrights entitled Dream Boston.

In anticipation of the summer 2021 production of The Tempest on Boston Common, the series Tempest Talks, hosted by CSC Associate Artistic Director Bryn Boice, focuses on the various elements that come together to put a great production on the stage: direction, design, performance.

Huntington Theatre Company announces the launch of seven additional titles to its series of short audio plays entitled Dream Boston. Four plays were announced in July, and the next seven will be released over subsequent weeks this fall. They are available on the Huntington's website, as well as on Apple, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and Stitcher.
