'I am more than the color of my skin.' 'Gender rules don't matter.' 'Self-hate is just as dangerous as any other.' 'Where you're from shouldn't change how people treat you.' Nearly 3,300 Northeast Ohio 6-12th graders recently submitted these and other reflections on intolerance as part of the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage annual Stop the Hate Youth Speak Out competition. Each student shared his or her experiences and ideas for effecting positive change in a 500-word essay. 'It's not just about students recognizing and evaluating instances of discrimination in their own lives,' explains Jeffery Allen, Maltz Museum Director of Education. 'We encourage them to recognize they have agency and a voice. We want them to see the role they can play in creating a more inclusive future.'

???????Yesterday, Les Enfants Terribles and Greenwich Theatre announced Rendered Retina Theatre Company as the winners of The LET Award and BoonDog Theatre and Lucy Roslyn as the winners of the Greenwich Partnership Award.

Today, Les Enfants Terribles in collaboration with Greenwich Theatre have announced the ten nominees for the sixth LET Award. The award is designed to help two new companies produce an original piece of work each at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017.

On Saturday, May 7, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts honored educators from the Las Vegas valley as it hosted The Heart of Education Awards.  The special event powered by The Rogers Foundation recognized hundreds of Clark County School District (CCSD) teachers who have gone above and beyond for their students and have greatly contributed to their education, livelihood and betterment.

Guy meets girl. They make some music. And they either end up together or apart, delighting or devastating their respective audiences. It's just as typical a story as the romance of the Broadway musical (and usually has a similar effect). Well, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova's Once is hailed for dashing the typical boy meets girl tale, and its North American tour installment does not seem to do typical either. Magic was made at New Haven's Shubert Theatre last night as the cast of Once took their first bow of the weekend (and received the first of what are likely to become many standing ovations).
