Xanadu presented by the Zach Theater in Austin is two hours brimming with joy, laughter, and sequins.

Today in 2007, Xanadu opened at the Helen Hayes Theatre, where it ran for 512 performances. Xanadu is a musical comedy with a book by Douglas Carter Beane and music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar, based on the 1980 cult classic film of the same name. The story of the musical focuses on a Greek muse, Clio, who descends from Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California, in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest creation of his life - a roller disco. It earned an Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical and a Drama Desk Award for Best Book. It was also nominated for Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Book.

The DOMA Theatre Company previously announced its first-ever season - a line up of six Broadway-style musicals sure to 'disturb and delightz'. The series continues with Jekyll & Hyde, The Musical (tonight, July 6 through July 29); Xanadu (Aug. 17-Sept. 9); Once On This Island (Sept. 21-Oct. 14), and a surprise, Tony Award-winning musical to be revealed at a later date (Nov. 2-Dec. 9).

Opening tonight, June 27, 2012, and playing through July 15, ArtsWest presents Xanadu. From the ArtsWest team that brought you Side Show and The Rocky Horror Show comes another summer-time sensation. This production, which features 16-21 year-old pre-professionals, brings back to the stage the Broadway World Award winner, Kody Bringman, as Sonny, and Broadway World Award nominee, Becca Orts, as Kira.

J*Company Artistic Director, Joey Landwehr, has invited three local theatre professionals to appear in a cameo role in the final production in J*Company Youth Theatre's La Jolla Playhouse Tribute Season. Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane, known for producing acclaimed, innovative and classic musicals and comedies, announces its 2012-2013 season featuring five glorious films brought to new life on stage.

For the final production in J*COMPANY Youth Theatre's La Jolla Playhouse Tribute Season, the cast and crew will travel to Mt. Olympus and Venice Beach, California for the roller skating romp, XANADU -The Musical.
