According to Talk Entertainment, '30 Rock' actorAlec Baldwin is set to host People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' 30th anniversary awards gala on (September 10). Baldwin is a long-time champion of the organization.

Adding to a story in today's New York Post, columnist Michael Riedel is now reporting that Alec Baldwin has passed on starring in a revival of the Garson Kanin play, Born Yesterday and is still said to be looking for a new play.

Michael Riedel reports this morning that stage and screen vet, Alec Baldwin, is undergoing a career 'rebirth' and is in search of a meatly Broadway show a means. He may have found one in a revival of Garson Kanin's Born Yesterday. According to the report, Baldwin led a reading on Monday of the piece alongside Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur). In the reading, Baldwin played Harry Brock, a weathly business man who bribes congressmen, while Arianda portrayed his blonde, airheaded lover, Billie Dawn. Josh Charles (The Good Wife) also partook in the reading. Doug Hughes (Doubt, The Royal Family, Oleanna) directed.

The last time Sam Underwood appeared on stage he was completely naked. He was playing Alan Strang in the much lauded production of Peter Schaffer's EQUUS at East Hampton (NY)'s John Drew Theatre. Those who are familiar with the play know that it culminates in a 20 minute nude scene for the actor playing the tormented young Strang. How then would the actor be recognized when he walked into a restaurant in New York City fully clothed?

As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, Alec Baldwin is starring as the psychiatrist Martin Dysart in Peter Shaffer's Equus this summer at Guild Hall in East Hampton, N.Y. The production, which co-stars Sam Underwood and is directed by Tony Walton will run from June 8 - July 13 at the John Drew Theater at Guild Hall. This will be Baldwin's first production at Guild Hall, of which he is a board member.

LOVE, LINDA: THE LIFE OF MRS. COLE PORTER, Stevie Holland's one-woman musical about Linda Porter and her life with husband Cole Porter, will conclude its run at the Triad Theater (158 West 72nd Street) on June 9 (Cole Porter's birthday), in preparation for summer touring engagements.
