February 2022 Program Additions to Carnegie Hall+ Announced

Carnegie Hall today announced new programming to be added this February to Carnegie Hall+, a new premium subscription video on-demand channel, curated by Carnegie Hall, that offers instant access to unforgettable performances by celebrated artists from renowned stages all around the world.

UNCSA's THE NUTCRACKER Will Be Available On Demand Beginning Monday, December 20

“The Nutcracker,” the beloved holiday tradition from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), has sold out for 11 performances at the Stevens Center in downtown Winston-Salem. But fans of the timeless classical ballet can experience the magic from the comfort of their own homes by purchasing access to an on-demand film of this year's live stage production, shot before a live audience.

Boston Ballet Announces 2021–2022 Company Roster

Boston Ballet Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen announces the 2021–2022 season roster. After successfully employing the full Company of dancers during the 2020–2021 virtual season, this season a total of 63 dancers comprise the Company roster, with 51 in the main company and 12 in Boston Ballet II (BBII), Boston Ballet's second company. 

First Soloist Beatriz Stix-Brunell Leaves The Royal Ballet

The Royal Ballet announces today that First Soloist Beatriz Stix-Brunell is to leave the Company after 11 years. In a move that was deferred due to the global pandemic, she leaves at the end of the Season to begin her academic career at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.

Texas Ballet Theater Adds Former Houston Ballet Dancers to School Staff

Texas Ballet Theater has announced the appointment of Elise and Rhodes Elliott, retired Houston Ballet dancers, to faculty and staff positions within Texas Ballet Theater School. Elise Elliott will join TBT as School Business Manager and Rhodes Elliott will be the new Advanced and Professional Training Division Instructor.

Kevin McKenzie to Retire as Artistic Director of American Ballet Theatre at the Conclusion of 2022 Season

Kevin McKenzie today announced his retirement as Artistic Director of American Ballet Theatre at the end of 2022, following three decades of leadership. He will oversee ABT’s creation of new works and performances throughout 2021 and 2022, ensuring ABT’s vitality and artistic integrity, while working with the Board of Governing Trustees to provide a seamless transition to the Company’s next Artistic Director.

Gabe Stone Shayer has been promoted to the rank of Soloist. The promotions, announced today by ABT Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie, are effective immediately.

BWW Review: ONEGIN, Royal Opera House

John Cranko's Onegin was last performed by the Royal Ballet in 2015. Now five years later, there is a new wave of rising stars who are keen to showcase their take on the great dramatic classical roles on offer, and how palpably Onegin is a ballet that needs those stars. With only four key characters, the corps are on hand to fill the lighter moments but all eyes are on the romantic entanglement at the centre of the story.
