Lark Play Development Center has announced that seven plays have been chosen for its 21st Annual Playwrights' Week, which will take place September 22nd - 27th. This year's plays and playwrights are Parachute Men by Mando Alvarado, Lucky Ladies by Dominic Finocchiaro, INC. by Diana Grisanti, No More Sad Things by Hansol Jung, Girl of Glass by Jennifer A. Kokai, Chalk by Walt McGough, and The Tiger Among Us by Lauren Yee.

Mona Mansour Receives 2014 Middle East America Distinguished Playwright Award

Silk Road Rising, Golden Thread Productions, and Lark Play Development Center are proud to announce that Mona Mansour, author of Urge for Going, The Hour of Feeling and The Way West, has been chosen to receive the 2014 Middle East America Distinguished Playwright Award. Honorable mentions went to playwrights Bianca Bagatourian, Ismail Khalidi, Daria Polatin, Mishael Shulman and Zohar Tirosh-Polk.

The Lark Play Development Center in collaboration with Mexico's National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA) is pleased to announce the 2013 Mexico/ U.S. Playwright Exchange Program. For the eighth year the Lark will host playwrights from Mexico and pair them with bilingual U.S. playwrights, actors, and directors for a ten day cultural exploration that establishes ongoing channels of communication between artists in both countries.

Lark Play Development Center to Present BareBones SKELETON CREW Workshop, 2/21-3/3

The Lark Play Development Center announces a BareBones workshop production of Skeleton Crew by Dominique Morisseau (Detroit '67 and Sunset Baby), the third and final play in her Detroit cycle, to be directed by Artistic Director of Baltimore's Center Stage and Chancellor of the University of the Arts London, Kwame Kwei-Armah. The workshop will run at Lark's BareBones Studio from February 21 - March 3 at 311 West 43rd Street in New York City. All tickets will be free and will open for reservations in January.

The 2013 Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust honored playwrights Annie Baker and Rajiv Joseph at last night's 2013 Steinberg Playwright Awards held at Lincoln Center Theater's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. The evening also highlighted the work of David Henry Hwang, who received the 2012 Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award, as last year's event was canceled due to Hurricane Sandy. Lark Announces Staff Changes

The Lark Play Development Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Vanessa Rose as the new Director of Development, and the promotion of long time staff member Anna Kull to the position of Director of Community Relationships. Both of these positions were created to help Lark to meet the growing demands for the services the 19-year old company provides as a laboratory for new theatrical work. Over the past five years, Lark's budget and staff have doubled in size and our community of artists and partners has increased substantially. The expertise that Rose and Kull bring to their new positions will support Lark's short and long-term strategic objectives focused on meeting these increased needs.
