After three successful years of the Playwrights of New York (PONY) Fellowship, the Lark PlayDevelopmentCenter is proud to announce that playwright Tommy Smith will be the 2010-11 PONY Fellow, one of the most unique artist fellowships in the country. Free public readings of Kwahulé's play, THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC, translated by Chantal Bilodeau will be presented at the Lark Studio. The readings are part of Lark's 7 year project to translate, develop, and publish seven of Kwahulé's plays in an effort to both encourage international exchange and to bring to the forefront a unique theatrical voice.

Lortel Statues for 14 categories and 2 special awards were handed out by celebrity presenters at the 2010 Lucille Lortel Awards at a live awards ceremony tonight at Terminal 5. Hosted by the Off-Broadway League, the live show was co-hosted by Bryan Batt and Bebe Neuwirth and featured performances by Alan Menken, STOMP, Seth Rudetsky, Edward Watts of The Fanasticks and LaChanze.

This year's writers are Michi Barall (Ma-Yi Writer's Lab), Madeleine George (13P founding member), Katori Hall (Lark's 2009 PONY Fellow), Sarah Treem (HBO's 'In Treatment') and David Wiener (Extraordinary Chambers).
