The Q Collective announces its 2019 season, including the new short play festival TRANSLUMINATE; the award-winning Broadway musical and cult classic HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH; and the return of the Q's critically acclaimed COMING OUT PLAY FESTIVAL, which debuted in 2018.

Two very special events bring two dynamic performers to the National Theatre's historic stage in February 2019 - THE MAGIC OF ADAM TRENT on Saturday, February 2 and THE ORIGIN OF LOVE: THE SONGS AND STORIES OF HEDWIG with John Cameron Mitchell on Friday, February 8.

Three dynamic forces from the Rhode Island theater community are collaborating on what's sure to be one of the major events of the season when John Cameron Mitchell's rock masterpiece "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" hits the stage at the Academy Players, starring Kevin Broccoli as Hedwig and directed by Theodore Clement, Artistic Director of Counter Productions Theater Company.

Pinch 'N Ouch Theatre opens its 10-year anniversary season with the Tony Award-winning rock musical, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, written by John Cameron Mitchell and music by Stephen Trask. Pinch 'N Ouch Theatre's Producing Artistic Director, Grant McGowen will direct Atlanta native Chad Darnell in the role of 'Hedwig,' an East German genderqueer "internationally ignored song stylist." McGowen most recently directed THIS IS OUR YOUTH, FOOL FOR LOVE and WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF at Pinch 'N' Ouch Theatre. "This show is a beast of a show and I'm so excited to bring her to back to Atlanta," said Darnell who previously played the role at the Bay Street Theatre in Savannah, GA in January 2018.

Casting has been announced for the Washington, D.C.  premiere of Broadway legend Andrew Lloyd Webber's high-octane Broadway and West End hit School of Rock - The Musical, coming to the National Theatre for a limited engagement from January 16 - 27, 2019.

Burlesque legends Dirty Martini and Julie Atlas Muz are to appear in the festive edition of the variety show Wilfredo a Go Go! at the Slipper Room 12/17. Circus icon Hovey Burgess is also earmarked to perform alongside burlesque starlet Lil' Miss Lixx.

Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed production of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, LES MISERABLES, opens tonight in Rochester with its much anticipated engagement at RBTL's Auditorium Theatre direct from a celebrated two-and-a-half year Broadway engagement. LES MISERABLES is a 2018-2019 M&T Bank Broadway Season Special Presented by the Rochester Broadway Theatre League and Albert Nocciolino.

SF Sketchfest presented by Audible announces the initial line up for the 18th annual San Francisco Comedy Festival January 10-27, 2019, featuring top comedic talent performing in venues across the city. Cameron Mackintosh announced today further dates for the UK and Ireland tour of his acclaimed production of the Boublil and Schonberg musical "LES MISERABLES". In addition to the previously announced dates, the musical will also play Plymouth Theatre Royal (11 June - 6 July 2019), Bradford Alhambra (9 July - 10 August 2019), Liverpool Empire (9 - 26 October 2019) and Wales Millennium Centre Cardiff (26 November 2019 - 4 January 2020). The City of Aventura presents Slow Burn Theatre Company's staging of Hedwig and the Angry Inch starring Carbonell Award winners Dominique Scott and Mallory K. Newbro on Thursday, November 29 and Friday, November 30 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, December 1 at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, December 2 at 2 p.m.

Ground-breaking new musical theatre event SIGNAL is taking over The Hospital Club's Oak Room for the fourth time. This free concert showcases some of the best and boldest new British musical theatre and since its first incarnation last December has presented over fifty world premieres of new musical theatre songs. Paul McGill (The Legend of Georgia McBride, Hedwig and the Angry Inch) will choreograph The Music Man at Asolo Rep this fall.  Directed by Jeff Calhoun (Newsies), the production will star Noah Racey (Never Gonna Dance) and run November 13 through December 29, 2018.  Additional casting and creative team members will be announced at a later date.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a gender-bent musical by John Cameron Mitchell with music and lyrics by Stephen Trask. Hedwig Robinson is a transgender punk rocker from East Germany who goes on a U.S. tour with her band, The Angry Inch. During the performances, Hedwig tells the story of her life: her transition from the boy Hansel into the woman Hedwig, her botched sex-change operation, her former lover and band-mate that stole her music for fame, her marriage to Yitzhak the ex-drag performer (who is also her talented back-up singer), and everything in between. Hedwig explores her journey to fame, the origins of love, and her own identity.

Slow Burn Theatre Company and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts follow their hit stagings of rock musicals Spring Awakening and Rock of Ages with Hedwig and the Angry Inch starring Carbonell Award winners Dominique Scott and Mallory K. Newbro in the Abdo New River Room at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts Thursday, November 8-Sunday, November 25.
