GLAAD Media Award recipients were announced in 29 of this year's 41 media categories at the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards presented by IBM and Prudential at New York's Marriott Marquis on Saturday night.
The nominations for the 2009 GLAAD Media Awards have been announced, BILLY ELLIOT and Road Show were among the New York theatre related show nominees. The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation also announced that Tyra Banks will receive the Excellence in Media Award and Suze Orman will be awarded the Vito Russo Award. GLAAD also give honors to comicbooks, advertising and journalism. Ceremonies will be held on March 28 in New York at the Marriott Maquis, April 18 in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre and on May 9 in San Francisco at the San Francisco Hilton.

To celebrate a frightful all-Hallows Eve, Here Arts Center, the starting point of the Village Halloween Parade, will host two very special curtains on Halloween night. After the performance of ARIAS WITH A TWIST, spooky sounds will be provided by DJ Flotilla DeBarge and Joey Arias, the creature of the night himself, will judge a petrifying pumpkin carving contest. Prizes will go to the most creepy, creative and cringeworthy costumes.

The all-new fully renovated HERE Arts Center proudly reopens its doors this Spring with Arias with a Twist, a premiere production from New York favorites Joey Arias and Basil Twist. Arias with a Twist marks the 10th Anniversary of the Dream Music Puppetry Program and the Dorothy B. Williams Theatre at HERE Arts Center. The production is presented as part of HERE's 2007-2008 season of new multi-disciplinary productions spanning theatre, dance, puppetry and multimedia work, which includes Dream Music programming. Arias with a Twist will run Thursday, June 12 - Saturday, July 13 at HERE Arts Center (145 Sixth Avenue).
After a season garnering rave reviews in Judy Garland and Uninvited Company, acclaimed impersonator Kate Botello returns with the holiday extravaganza, Judy's Christmas Garland. The cabaret/musical will play five dates in December (8th, 13th, 15th, 20th, and 22nd) at Helen's Hideaway Room (169 Eighth Avenue).
