The American Theatre Wing today announced that applications are now being accepted for the 2013 Jonathan Larson Grants. The grants, given annually to honor emerging composers, lyricists and book writers, help to continue Tony Award-winning composer Jonathan Larson's dream of infusing musical theatre with a contemporary, joyful, urban vitality.

SCARLETT FEVER, a pop culture-infused comedy by former New York Magazine blogger Josh Duboff, will receive its world premiere in the 2012 New York International Fringe Festival. Performances begin August 14, 2012 at the Soho Playhouse.

So now that Patrick Page will be ending his stint as The Green Goblin in Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark and begin rehearsals for a piece just a tad worthier of his talents, Cyrano De Bergerac, his replacement Robert Cuccioli, a sensitive lyric interpreter with a beautifully masculine voice, will be taking on the honor of singing “A Freak Like Me Needs Company” eight times a week.

54 BELOW, the new performance venue located just below legendary Studio 54 at 254 West 54th Street, hosts some of Broadway's brightest stars tonight, July 9 through July 22. Coming up are Ben Vereen, Bucky Pizzarelli, Maury Yeston, MX Justin Vivian Bond, Joe Iconis, Jamie Deroy, Rebecca Luker, Annie Golden, Mara Davi and more.

On Thursday, June 28th, the ten finalists in Ken Davenport's 10-Minute Play Contest presented their plays and musicals at Davenport Studios for a live audience and judges panel that included Isaac Robert Hurwitz (NYMF Executive Producer), Joe Iconis (Bloodsong of Love, The Black Suits), Sarah Saltzberg (The 25th Annual Putnam...), and Ken Davenport (Godspell, Avenue Q). The judges and audience voted for their favorite piece of the night.

New York Theatre Barn (Joe Barros, Artistic Director; Jason Najjoum, Producing Director; Barry Levine, Managing Director) will launch the 6th consecutive year of its acclaimed monthly platform for emerging musical theater writers, NYTB in the D-Lounge, on July 9, 2012 at the D-Lounge of the Daryl Roth Theatre. Featured writing teams will be Charlie Sohne and Tim Rosser, and Adam Spiegel and Dan Wolpow, all alumni of the Tony Award-winning BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. 'New Mondays' at 54 BELOW continues tonight, Monday, June 25 at 7 p.m. with brand new tunes from Amanda Green (High Fidelity, Bring It On), Jeff Blumenkrantz (Urban Cowboy), Laurence O'Keefe (Bat Boy, Legally Blonde), and the vocal talents of Tom Compton, Michelle Duffy, Rachel Flynn, Ann Harada, Julia Murney, Kevin Pariseau, Alysha Umphress and Michael Winther.

The Village Gate's Old-Fashioned Piano Party will play its last hurrah on Sunday, May 20, 9PM at The Gallery at le Poisson Rouge. The musical theatre themed open-mic night, created by Kevin Michael Murphy with music direction by Caleb Hoyer, has been delighting New York nightlife every Sunday night since October 2010. Over that time notable guests have included Kate Shindle, Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk, Adam Gown, Jason Michael Snow, Russell Fischer, and Jay Armstrong Johnson.
