MUSE/IQUE, an innovative cross-genre music organization curated by its noted artistic director/conductor Rachael Worby that embraces the unexpected, continues its popular Uncorked series with "Jazz Laid Down" on Monday, February 11, 2013, 7 pm. Featuring legendary bassist Charlie Haden as special guest along with the electro-acoustic jazz, funk and world music of TriTone Asylum and original choreography by Joffrey Ballet choreographer Alice Alyse, the event takes place at a fascinating "pop up" venue, The Castle Press in Pasadena, one of the nation's busiest printing studios. Amid, cocktail rounds and chairs scattered among the machinery for seating, the evening begins with complimentary wine and tours of the printing studio followed by the performance.

The Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour 55th Anniversary Celebration makes its way to Segerstrom Center for the Arts today, January 13 in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. The all- star ensemble will perform classic jazz and original compositions by critically acclaimed, Grammy Award-winning artists: bassist and musical director Christian McBride, vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, saxophonist Chris Potter, trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire, pianist Benny Green and drummer Lewis Nash.

The Rubin Museum will explore illusion and human perception in this year's edition of the popular Brainwave series of on-stage conversations between mind scientists and thinkers from diverse walks of life. Opening on February 6, the series will include 20 on-stage conversations, 50 film screenings, and an interactive experience in which the museum will become a Memory Palace. While illusion is usually associated with vision, the series will engage audiences through all five senses to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject.

Vibraphonist Stefon Harris, saxophonist David Sánchez and trumpeter Christian Scott first crossed that divide on their acclaimed two-disc CD/DVD package, Ninety Miles, released June 21, 2011. Recorded during the same trip, their first and only live performance, Ninety Miles Live At Cubadisco, is set for special U.S. digital release today, September 25, 2012 (international release dates may vary) on Concord Picante.

Pace University has announced the 2012 / 2013 season of Pace Presents, hosted at The Michael Schimmel Center for The Arts located at 3 Spruce Street between Park Row and Gold Street in downtown Manhattan. Pace Presents is a world-class performing arts and culture series with an emphasis on music superstars from around the globe, charismatic and crowd-pleasing dance performances, spectacular theatre and contemporary cabaret. The Pace Presents season begins on September 22 with Gypsy brass superstars Fanfare Ciocarlia and culminates on April 20 with Jazz's living treasure, Hugh Masekela.

The latest edition of Conrad Herwig's Latin Side series finds him tackling the music of an artist with whom he has performed extensively: saxophonist Joe Henderson. This week's series of shows at the Blue Note marks the latest in the trombonist's string of Latin Side recordings and performances, including The Latin Side of Herbie Hancock (2010), The Latin Side of Wayne Shorter (2008), Sketches of Spain y Mas(2006), Another Kind of Blue (2004), and The Latin Side of John Coltrane (1998). Tuesday and Wednesday night feature special guest Ronnie Cuber (baritone sax) whereas Joe Lovano (tenor sax) will be with the band the rest of the week.
