Classical tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 8 PM, as part of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association's 2011/12 World Music Series. Hussain is joined by Masters of Percussion, an ensemble of leading percussion artists, the Meitei Pung Cholom Performing Troupe which combines dance, drumming and martial arts, and special guest, kathak dancer, Antonia Minnecola.

New York's jazz heart wasn't always located downtown. Once it was found on 52nd Street and before that on 125th, and for many decades its most powerful radio voice has been WKCR-FM on the campus of Columbia University. Just a few yards away, jazz finds an uptown home at Columbia's Miller Theatre. This season, Melissa Smey has programmed groups from the top of her wish list in a Jazz series that begins with the inventive Lionel Loueke Trio and the Renee Rosnes Quartet.

Conrad Herwig has spent more than a decade 'latinizing' works by some of the most celebrated jazz musicians and composers of the last fifty years. Save for the first recording, The Latin Side of John Coltrane (Astor Place, 1996), all of Herwig's Latin Side albums have been released on Half Note Records, the in-house record label of the Blue Note jazz club.
