Desperate Housewives Star Ricardo Antonio Chavira To Head Guthrie's STREETCAR

The Guthrie Theater today announced the casting of Ricardo Antonio Chavira as Stanley Kowalski in Tennessee Williams' masterpiece A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by John Miller-Stephany.
Chavira returns to the Guthrie Theater, where he participated in A Guthrie Experience for Actors in Training in 1999. While at the Guthrie, Chavira appeared in The Long Walk and Jack and Jill at the Guthrie Lab. Other theater credits include roles at Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles, La Jolla Playhouse, San Diego Rep, Seattle Rep and Missouri Rep. He is best known for his role as Carlos Solis on the ABC television series "Desperate Housewives," which is currently in its sixth season. Chavira has been part of the award-winning "Desperate Housewives" cast since the series began in 2004."My first time in Minneapolis was as a member of the Guthrie Experience in the summer of 1999," Chavira said. "Now, 11 years later, it is great to return to Minneapolis for my first Guthrie mainstage performance in A Streetcar Named Desire."A Streetcar Named Desire begins previews on the Wurtele Thrust Stage at the Guthrie on July 3, opens July 9 and continues through August 21, 2010.
