he Joyce Theater Foundation announced today the full lineup of U.S. and international talent that will grace The Joyce’s storied stage for its Spring/Summer 2022 season. Nearly two dozen companies and dance creators will bring their unparalleled creativity and astounding artistic innovation to the iconic, intimate home for dance in New York City.

On Tuesday, October 13, at 8pm EDT, NYCB will release the fourth program consisting of George Balanchinea??s Duo Concertant, a duet accompanied by an onstage violinist and pianist, along with excerpts from Jerome Robbinsa?? Dances at a Gathering and Balanchinea??s Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet and Symphony in C.

On Tuesday, September 29, at 8pm EDT, NYCB will release an All Balanchine program of Tschaikovsky Pas de Deux and 'The Unanswered Question' from Ivesiana, with excerpts from Symphony in C, Liebeslieder Walzer, Episodes, and Stravinsky Violin Concerto.

Now celebrating the 24th anniversary in Houston and the 27th season since its inception in Brussels, Belgium, Dance Salad Festival promises another gathering of world-class performers. Famous in their own countries, classical and contemporary dancers share the Dance Salad Festival stage to form a mix of movement and compelling choreography.

Former Royal Ballet Principal Ivan Putrov has been curating regular galas in London in recent years with hit and miss results. 2017's Men in Motion fell into the latter category however, returning now with Against the Stream, the result is an engaging evening of dance from some of ballet's most starry names.

On Wednesday, legendary ballet dancer and founder of National Dance Institute (NDI), Jacques d'Amboise, honored Harry Belafonte at the Fall installation of Jacques' Art Nest Series, “Dance for Change.”

New York City Ballet announced today the programming for Principal Dancer Joaquin De Luz's farewell performance, which will take place on October 14 at 3pm, closing the Company's 2018 Fall Season. After a 15-year career with New York City Ballet, for his final performance De Luz will dance 'Theme and Variations' from George Balanchine's Tchaikovsky Suite No. 3, Jerome Robbins' A Suite of Dances, and Peter Martins' Todo Buenos Aires. Also on the program will be Balanchine's Concerto Barocco, a personal favorite of De Luz's, which he will not perform that afternoon.

Choreographer Jerome Robbins was born in New York City in 1918. On this, the occasion of what would be his 100th birthday, the New York City Ballet, for whom he choreographed and became Associate Artistic Director, presents Jerome Robbins 100 with five different programs. On Friday, May 18, 2018, I was in the David Koch Theater to see program #5.

New York City Ballet's Centennial Celebration at the Koch Theater in Lincoln Center of the 100th anniversary of Jerome Robbins' birth honors the prodigiously gifted dancemaker, the company's Co-Founding Choreographer, with a ballet lover's feast of five programs from May 3rd to May 20th 2018. The run include two world premieres as well as 20 ballets by Robbins. He died in 1998 at the age of 80, but “Robbins 100” shows beyond a doubt that his legacy endures.

On March 1, 2018, I saw one of the final performances of New York City Ballet's Winter 2018 season (ending March 4th). The Stravinsky/ Balanchine program presents some of Balanchine's most appreciated ballets, which is exciting to experience. Over the years, many dancers have had the opportunity to perform these ballets. Now, many years since the death of the choreographer/artistic director, April 30, 1983, the NYCB company continues to thrive. While a number of the older dancers take on the style of the Master, many of the corps de ballet members seem to be dancing without the full comprehension of the spirit, even the technique, which created these works. This, of course, can be explained in part by the changes in the world in which they live. We can hope for evolution in a positive direction.

On the evening of Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the David H. Koch Theater, New York City Ballet featured Romeo and Juliet - a ballet in two acts. It was based on the play by William Shakespeare, music by Sergei Prokofiev, and choreography by Peter Martins.  The scenery was created by Per Kirkeby and the costumes were by Per Kirkeby and Kirsten Lund Nielsen.  The orchestra was conducted by Andrew Litton. The curtain opened to reveal blood red trees and background. This visual was brilliantly conceived by Mr. Kirkeby. It foreshadowed the "flames of lost love and passion". It's opening musical strains evoked a myriad of ominous events yet to occur in the lives of these two star-crossed young people and their families.

The holidays simply aren't complete without a delightful Hawaiian-style production of The Nutcracker. Ballet Hawaii celebrates the imaginary adventures of a young girl and a prince with its 40th Anniversary Season and this unforgettable performance.
