The Casting Society of America (CSA) has revealed its first-round nominees for the 31st Annual Artios Awards across the theater, television, web series and short film categories. This year, the Television Animation category has been divided into two categories: Television Animation-Adult and Television Animation-Children. All winners will be announced at the 31st Annual Artios Awards at the height of awards season on Thursday, January 21, 2016.
The Matilda The Musical national tour kicked off the 2015/16 season at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre last night, where it plays through September 6, 2015. While the show doesn't officially open until August 20, theatre-goers were distressed after last night's first preview, when the show reportedly struggled to make it to the final bow. The performances began a whopping hour and a half late, keeping guests waiting outside without an explanation from the staff.

The CSULB Department of Theatre Arts and its graduate production arm, the LA Drama Critics Choice Award-winning California Repertory Company (Cal Rep) have selected and announced the 2015-2016 season of productions, all of which will be performed in theatrical venues on the California State University Long Beach campus. California Repertory performances will move from the Royal Theatre aboard the Queen Mary and return to the University and Studio Theaters, located on the southeast corner of CSULB. The Cal Rep and University Players season runs September 25, 2015 through May 7, 2016, and includes three new works and a musical. Boston Lyric Opera today announced the location for its Opera Annex production of Philip Glass' In The Penal Colony. The one-act, two-character chamber opera based on a 1914 Franz Kafka short story will be staged in The Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts from November 11-15, 2015. Tickets for In the Penal Colony and all of BLO's 2015/16 Season shows go on sale to the public Friday, July 31.
