The all-new July 2015 edition of CUNY TV's ARTS IN THE CITY, hosted by Carol Anne Riddell from Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City, Queens, begins Friday, July 10 (2015) at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm on CUNY TV*.

Starting fittingly on July Fourth weekend, Museum of the Moving Image will present The Essential John Ford, a tribute to the consummate American filmmaker. Ford made his reputation on westerns, but worked in many genres, creating films of depth, beauty, and ambiguity. From today, July 3 through August 2, the Museum will present 20 movies directed by Ford-all on film, with some restored archival prints-including his masterpieces Young Mr. Lincoln, My Darling Clementine, The Searchers, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.

Eddie Cooper and Joe Grifasi join Ellen Greene, Jake Gyllenhaal and Taran Killam in the Encores! Off-Center concert production of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, running for three performances, tonight, July 1, and tomorrow, July 2, 2015 at New York City Center.

Producing Artistic Director Chuck Tobin today announced the July 1st opening of Jeffrey Hatcher's area premiere adaptation of Wait Until Dark, written by Frederick Knott at Saint Michael's Playhouse (tonight, July 1 - 11). Directed by Sarah Carleton the cast features Abby Lee as Susan, John D. Alexander as Roat, Christian Kohn as Mike, Bill Carmichael as Carlino, David Rossetti as Sam, and introducing Jillian Kenny as Gloria.

Westport Country Playhouse hosted 'Hirschfeld at the Playhouse,' a one-night-only celebration of the artistry of Al Hirschfeld last night, June 29, with an exhibition of his works and a screening of the documentary about his life and career, 'The Line King: The Al Hirschfeld Story.' The 1996 Academy Award-nominated film, directed and written by Susan W. Dryfoos, was produced by Times History Productions, a division of The New York Times Company. The Cape Playhouse's production of The Drowsy Chaperone, starring JoAnne Worley, will play the Massachusetts venue tonight, June 30 - July 11, 2015.

St. Petersburg City Theatre presents SUMMER SHORTS, its 2nd annual salute to playwrights and the creative art of one-act play composition. Production Dates are August 14 - 16, 2015.

Lincoln Center Theater presents Patti LuPone, Dale Soules, Michael Urie, Jordan Dean, Lance Coadie Williams, and Zoe Winters in Shows For Days, a new play by Douglas Carter Beane, directed by Jerry Zaks. PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra presents a sensory-friendly orchestra performance, “Celebrate Pittsburgh,” today, June 27 at 2:30 p.m. at Heinz Hall.

Wow!  What a book The Girl on the Train is by Paula Hawkins!  It is a thriller to beat all thrillers.  Just the perfect mix of everything: murder, deceit, illicit affairs, buried secrets and one very alcoholic protagonist who doesn't remember anything until the end, of coarse.  Rachel, our narrator, lives in a blur between being stupid drunk and fantasy land.  Alcohol has destroyed her marriage however she is, in her mind, still inexorably tied to her ex-husband Tom who has wasted no time in marrying Anna. Tom has moved Anna into the house along the train tracks that he and Rachel once shared.  Rachel can't help herself.  She calls and harasses Tom and Anna each time she gets stupid drunk, which is every night.

The Pasadena Playhouse announced today full casting for A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN.  Conceived, written and directed by Randy Johnson, with choreography by Patricia Wilcox and musical direction by Tyler Evans.  A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN stars Mary Bridget Davies, following her Tony Award nominated Broadway run.  Pasadena native Kacee Clanton, also from the Broadway production of A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN, will alternate the role of Janis Joplin with Davies.
