Review: PARADE at Broadway at The Hobby Center
by Brett Cullum
- Jul 16, 2025
PARADE asks a lot of its audience. There are moments when a song is so rousing and well-sung, but then you realize the material is uncomfortable, and you wonder if you should cheer or stay absolutely quiet.

Review: PARADE at Ahmanson Theatre
by Harker Jones
- Jun 24, 2025
When PARADE debuted on Broadway in December 1998 it won Tonys for Best Book and Best Original Score and six Drama Desk Awards. The 2023 revival was nominated for six Tony Awards itself, winning two. Now touring, the show, based on a true story, is in Los Angeles through July 12. And while it takes place 1913–1915, it is still just as relevant today as it was a century ago.
Review: MAMMA MIA! at The Paramount Theater
by Amelia Divine
- Jun 11, 2025
There is something about Mamma Mia! that just feels like summer. Maybe it is the breezy Greek island setting, maybe it is the glittery ABBA soundtrack, or maybe it is because this show operates entirely on pure joy. The Paramount’s current production leans into that joy, delivering an experience that feels more like an event than a standard night at the theater. The audience came ready for it too, with people in disco lamé, breezy resortwear, and go-go boots.

Chances are Seth Weetis, the anagram-obsessed friend in KIMBERLY AKIMBO, would have a field day with the show’s title. The two-act musical opened June 3 and runs through June 8 at the Ohio Theatre.

Review: PARADE at Orpheum Theatre
by Steve Murray
- May 23, 2025
A true story of unspeakable injustice is beautifully realized in Parade, deservedly winner of the 2023 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. Like its dramatic courtroom cousins Inherit then Wind and To Kill a Mockingbird, Parade brings humanity to a tragedy, faces to the pictures projected on a huge backdrop screen, and a heightened emotional realism through Jason Robert Browns’ Tony winning score. Gorgeously stage by Michael Arden, its huge cast is always in motion, amazingly lit to create an atmosphere of hot and dusty 1913 Georgia.
Review: MAMMA MIA at Broadway In Tucson
by Zach Wetzel
- May 22, 2025
MAMMA MIA at Broadway in Tucson is an energetic crowdpleaser! I spent my childhood listening to the music of ABBA and watching various iterations of MAMMA MIA. The bar was very high for me on this one. I am pleased to say that Broadway in Tucson delivers a stunning and captivating performance with excellent visuals and vocals combined.
