Kronos Quartet/Kronos Performing Arts Association (KPAA) announces the launch of a new website for Fifty for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire, the San Franciscoa?"based nonprofit's ongoing multi-year commissioning, performance, education and legacy initiative. Designed and developed by the San Francisco design and storytelling company First Person, the site provides a gateway to discover, explore and learn contemporary string quartets composed by 25 women and 25 men from around the world. The free digital learning library currently contains 30 scores and parts, recordings and supplemental learning materials. When completed, this collection will feature 50 new pieces. Launched in 2015 with Lead Partner Carnegie Hall, the initial scores have been downloaded more than 14,000 times in 88 countries and territories worldwide.

Following a successful 4-city tour of Florida that included a well-received appearance at the Forward Motion Physically Integrated Dance Festival in Miami, the company brings its vaunted skill set back to the Bay Area with select performances that include a newly reconceived staging of Robert Dekkers' Flutter, along with AXIS Artistic Director Marc Brew's Quartet No.1 to the Berkeley Ballet Theater, that will then be followed by a collaboration with Crowded Fire Theater, Star Finch, and Ensemble Mik Nawooj at the Bay View Opera House in San Francisco entitled Death Become Life: Banish Darkness, all before segueing to its 2019-20 season that will include a special Oakland-based educational event for Dance Access Day in February, as well as the world premiere of Alice in Oakland-their ambitious and much anticipated collaboration with Arthur Pita-coming to and co-presented by Z Space in San Francisco, November 2019

Bringing together some of today's most remarkable ballet talents, Daniel Ulbricht's Stars of American Ballet returns to Jacob's Pillow, appearing in the Ted Shawn Theatre August 22-26. A principal dancer with New York City Ballet since 2007, Ulbricht is lauded as "one of the best male ballet dancers in New York" (Dance Magazine). As Artistic Director, curator, and performer, Ulbricht brings a unique vision and perspective to performance. With a cast highlighting 14 powerhouse dancers of New York City Ballet, this collective celebrates the legacy of choreographic legend Jerome Robbins with a program of his masterpieces on the occasion of his centennial, augmented by two Robbins-related PillowTalks.

The City of Oakland represents in San Francisco when AXIS Dance Company, the country's leading physically integrated dance company crosses the bridge and comes to Z Space in the Mission District as part of its 30th anniversary celebration, and its first season under new Artistic Director, Marc Brew. The program will feature Radical Impact, a new work produced in collaboration with composer JooWan Kim, Artistic Director of Oakland-based Hip Hop Orchestra, Ensemble Mik Nawooj. Fort Worth Opera (FWOpera) announced today the names of the six composer and librettist teams whose unpublished works have been selected for the company's sixth annual, critically-acclaimed new works series, Frontiers - funded in part by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Held during the final week of the 2018 FWOpera Festival, these selected pieces will be presented in two separate showcases of three works each on Wednesday, May 2 from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm, and Thursday, May 3 from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm, on the stage of Bass Performance Hall. Featuring 20-minute excerpts of each selected piece, these brand-new operas will be sung by artists from the 2018 FWOpera Festival with piano accompaniment.
