BWW Reviews: Webster Conservatory Class of 2012 Shines in Cabaret at the Kranzberg

For the past two years I've been attending the Webster Student Cabaret, which this time consists of three talented females and three talented males. This is a Cabaret showcase (I took in the 7:30pm show on 12/13/11) courtesy of the Kranzberg and the Presenters Dolan, which is made possible through the generous work of Jim Dolan. Lara Teeter and Neal Richardson, lending their talents as the director and musical director/arranger/accompanist, and media contact/organizer, respectively had a mixed group that focused on an eclectic collection of standards, show tunes both old and new, and pop, mostly country-fied. All of which lent itself to a breezy night of young adults showing us what they've got on their collective plates to offer for their dreams of stardom.

Chuck Lavazzi Returns to the Kranzberg to Perform JUST A SONG AT TWILIGHT 7/24

Travel back to an era that's not as bygone as you might think, when Americans put away the cares of war, social unrest, and massive technological change by reveling in the often-bawdy comedy, incredible variety, and unforgettable songs of the vaudeville stage. Get re-acquainted with standards like 'Shine On Harvest Moon' and 'Carolina in the Morning', laugh along with comedy classics like 'The Bird on Nellie's Hat', 'Last Night on the Back Porch', and 'I've Got Rings on My Fingers', take a fresh new look at sentimental favorites like 'Love's Old Sweet Song' and 'After the Ball', and hear all the verses to 'Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis'.

The Presenters Dolan Bring Christina Rios to the Kranzberg for Cabaret Show 2/27

It happens every day, or maybe it just seems that way. Breaking up is not only hard to do, it is awful, terrible, painful -- and funny once you pick yourself up off the floor. Christina Rios finds the funny inside the pain, and the pain inside the funny. Her choice of breakup songs includes: everything from Weird Al Yankovic to Paul Simon to Stephen Sondheim.
