THE FATHER, a new play by Moliere Award winner Florian Zeller, in a translation by two-time Tony Award winner Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, God of Carnage), opened just last night, April 14, 2016 on Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. WAITRESS, which begins performances at the Brooks Atkinson on March 25th, is making history! It will be the first show in Broadway history to have four top creative spots in a show filled by four separate women. The team includes music and lyrics by Sara Barellies, book by Jessie Nelson, choreography by Lorin Latarrom and direction by Diane Paulus. While this is definitely a landmark, other Broadway shows have had a significant number of female creatives, or a completely female creative team - driven by one person! So embrace your inner girl power, and celebrate the amazing female driven shows that came before!

Westport Country Playhouse hosted 'Hirschfeld at the Playhouse,' a one-night-only celebration of the artistry of Al Hirschfeld last night, June 29, with an exhibition of his works and a screening of the documentary about his life and career, 'The Line King: The Al Hirschfeld Story.' The 1996 Academy Award-nominated film, directed and written by Susan W. Dryfoos, was produced by Times History Productions, a division of The New York Times Company.
