The Seventh Annual Goodspeed Festival of New Artists features staged readings of brand new works for the American Music Theatre in this creative gathering of authors, actors, artists, and musical theatre lovers.
The Hartt Community Division presents two all school recitals, the West End String Quartet,Chamber Music Recitals, faculty recitals, Connecticut Children's Chorus, and the Hartt School and Goodspeed Musicals present a weekend of arts showcasing.
The Seventh Annual Goodspeed Festival of New Artists, produced by Goodspeed Musicals' Max Showalter Center for Education in Musical Theatre, kicks off its much anticipated three day festival of brand new works on Friday, January 13, at the Goodspeed Opera House with a staged reading of the soulful musical Harmony, Kansas.
Following a successful 23rd Annual Festival of New Musicals held in NYC Oct. 27-28. The National Alliance for Musical Theatre held a party at Southern Hospitality. This year's Festival attaracted over 650 people representing 300 organizations from around the country including Europe attending the eight new musicals that were presented. William Finn in his remarks to the opening night audience at Barrington Stage Co said , 'I do not want to overpraise Wilbur Aronson and Sam Salmond because I would like you to discover their great talent on your own.' He also added in typical Finn fashion 'it's the only Mormon show this year you can get tickets to (and it's not really a Mormon show either). I hope you greet it with open arms and an open heart.'
