On Tuesday, February 8, The Music Man kicked off its opening week with a special event including an (un)official Mayoral Proclamation by Mayor George Shinn (Jefferson Mays) and a performance by The Barbershop Quartet (Phillip Boykin, Eddie Korbich, Daniel Torres, Nicholas Ward), all to celebrate the production’s 21 Broadway debuts.

Actor Brad Oscar has earned two Tony Award nominations for his performances in The Producers and Something Rotten!, and has additional Broadway credits which include The Addams Family, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Spamalot, Jekyll & Hyde, and Big Fish. The Broadway production of The Music Man has opted not to invite critics to preview performances ahead of its opening night. Breaking from the long-held Broadway tradition, the musical, led by Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster, has instead invited critics to its opening night performance on February 10.

Mrs. Doubtfire, the new musical comedy with a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O'Farrell and music and lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick, directed by Jerry Zaks, is currently taking a hiatus on Broadway from January 10 to March 14, 2022 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 W 43rd St, NYC).

After 34 years serving as the Creative Director and then Senior Vice President of Jujamcyn Theaters, Jack Viertel has announced his retirement as of the end of 2021. Mr. Viertel came to the company in 1987 and was involved in the production of many award-winning plays and musicals, including six of August Wilson’s legendary ten–play Century Cycle.

Hugh Jackman returned to The Music Man last night! The star had previously tested positive for Covid-19 and was forced to sit out performances of the show.

It was announced today all performances of Broadway's The Music Man are canceled through January 1st. All tickets can be refunded or exchanged at point of purchase. Performances will resume on Sunday, January 2.

'Humbled and Inspired' star of stage and screen Hugh Jackman (now back on the boards in The Music Man) has released a holiday message to the Broadway community, straight from the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway where the show recently began previews.

The evening performance on Saturday, December 25 and matinee performance on Sunday, December 26 of Broadway’s The Music Man have been cancelled due to breakthrough COVID-19 cases. All tickets for the cancelled shows will be refunded at the point of purchase.
