Penobscot Theatre Company Extends RING OF FIRE

The Man in Black is proving a powerful draw for Penobscot Theatre Company, warranting a one-week extension of the popular show, created by Richard Maltby, Jr. and conceived by William Meade. Originally scheduled to close September 27,Ring of Fire, The Music of Johnny Cash is now slated to run through October 4, offering patrons five more opportunities to see the theatre's acclaimed season-opener.

Penobscot Theatre Company is set to kick-off its 42nd season with Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash, created by Richard Malby, Jr. and conceived by William Meade. The show will feature 38 hits from the legendary Man in Black, brought to new life by five musician/actors playing multiple instruments. It will run tonight, September 10, through September 27 at the historic Bangor Opera House.

La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its Page To Stage workshop production of Chasing the Song, a jubilant new musical by the team behind the Tony Award-winning musical Memphis, featuring book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro, music and lyrics by David Bryan and directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley. Kicking off the Playhouse's 2014/15 season, Chasing the Song runs May 13 - June 15 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. Goodspeed Musicals, the first two-time Tony Award winning theatre in the country has announced that the cast of Hello! My Baby will be led by Justin Bowen, who will play Mickey McKee, and Stephanie Koenig, who will play Nelly Gold/Ned O'Reilly. Kelly McCormick will play Frances Gold. Junior Tierney will be played by Carrington Vilmont of Broadway's The Phantom of the Opera and Goodspeed's Half a Sixpence. Stanford J. Tierney will be played by Dick Decareau, who appeared in Broadway's Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Raggedy Ann and Goodspeed's Li'l Abner and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Beth McVey will play Ethel Coots. Ms. McVey's Broadway credits include Beauty and the Beast, The Phantom of the Opera, Nine, 42nd Street, and Annie. Bert Coots will be played by Frank Root of Broadway's 42nd Street and Mack & Mabel as well as Goodspeed's George M!. Alex Viola will play Violet Gold.
