NeON Arts Summer 2017: GOING PUBLIC Set for Tonight at Carnegie Hall

On Monday, August 28 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., youth from across New York City will present original paintings, songs, films, beats, poetry and more in Carnegie Hall's Resnick Education Wing as part of NeON Arts, a program of the NYC Department of Probation (DOP) in partnership with Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute.

Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute Announces 2017-2018 Grant Recipients

Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute (WMI) today announced the 2017-2018 grant recipients for PlayUSA, a program that supports a wide range of instrumental music education projects across the United States, all specifically designed to reach low-income and underserved students on a local level. For its third year, Carnegie Hall has selected 13 organizations, including 6 new partners and 7 returning organizations from the 2016-2017 season, for a total of $430,000 in grants. In addition to financial support, the grantees join a nationwide network of innovative organizations committed to providing transformative music education opportunities for youth across the country:

Carnegie Hall's Lullaby Project Reaches Mothers Through Songwriting Workshops Across the Country

On Friday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m., mothers, family members, musicians, and partners from New York City and across the country will gather to celebrate original songs created as part of Carnegie Hall's Lullaby Project, a program which pairs pregnant women and new mothers with professional artists to write personal lullabies for their babies. In New York City, the project reaches mothers in hospitals, homeless shelters, foster care centers, and at Rikers Island Correctional Facility. Extending across the country, Lullaby Project partner organizations work with families in over fifteen communities. The Lullaby Project supports maternal health, aids child development, and strengthens the bond between parent and child. The year-end concert on June 2, which will feature performances by mothers and artists locally as well as from partner sites across the nation, will be made available to a wider audience through a livestream on facebook.com/CarnegieHall.

Mirror Visions Ensemble to Present WHEN ICICLES HANG BY THE WALL at Sheen Center

On Today, December 6 at 8:00 p.m., Mirror Visions Ensemble (MVE) presents its winter-inspired program When Icicles Hang by the Wall at the Loreto Theater at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture, as part of the ensemble's 25th anniversary season. The concert features soprano Vira Slywotzky, tenor Scott Murphree, and baritone Mischa Bouvier, together with pianist Grant Wenaus.

Carnegie Hall's 'Link Up' Program Expands Worldwide; Concerts Set for NYC This May

For over 30 years, Link Up-a hands-on curriculum that invites students in grades 3 to 5 to make and explore music-has culminated in springtime, interactive children's concerts for thousands of New York City students who are invited to come together at Carnegie Hall. More recently, Carnegie Hall has also provided this program free-of-charge to over 80 orchestra partners across the United States and abroad, reaching many more thousands of children who join together to make music in their own communities. The Link Up curriculum and concert program was developed by Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute.

Pianist Yuja Wang's Carnegie Hall Concert to be Broadcast Online, 5/14

Acclaimed pianist Yuja Wang, whose annual Carnegie Hall recital has quickly become one of the premier events of the New York concert season, performs on Saturday, May 14 at 8:00 p.m. for an audience in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, plus many more people around the world through a simultaneous live radio broadcast on WQXR 105.9 FM and online at wqxr.org, and webcast on medici.tv.

Palo Alto Payers, the Peninsula's first theatre company, presents CHICAGO, a brilliant musical satire that brings you the razzle­dazzle music of vaudeville, show­stopping dance numbers - and all that jazz! Written by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, CHICAGO is the winner of six Tony Awards. CHICAGO will play for 11 performances, tonight, September 11, through September 27, 2015 at the Lucie Stern Theater located at 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto.

Joshua Gersen Named Assistant Conductor of New York Philharmonic for 2015-16 Season

Joshua Gersen, age 30, has been named New York Philharmonic Assistant Conductor beginning in September 2015. He will assist Music Director Alan Gilbert and all guest conductors throughout the season, and will lead educational events, including Young People's Concerts and Young People's Concerts for Schools.

IS HE DEAD? Comes to Life at Hale Centre Theatre on New Year's Eve

?Hale Centre Theatre (HCT) is ringing in the New Year with the long-lost production of Is He Dead? written by American author Mark Twain. The play was 'rediscovered' in a drawer of Twain's forgotten works at the University of California at Berkeley in 2001. It has since appeared on Broadway and will hit HCT's stage tonight, December 31, 2014, through Saturday, February 7, 2015.

Joyce DiDonato Will Continue Carnegie Hall Perspectives Series in February & March

In early 2015, the celebrated mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato continues her multi-part Carnegie Hall Perspectives series showcasing her vocal creativity and multifaceted talents that range from programs of familiar and forgotten repertoire from the Baroque and bel canto eras to new works by Jake Heggie written expressly for her.
