Photo Coverage: EVERY BRILLIANT THING Celebrates Opening Night at Barrow Street Theatre

The North American premiere of Olivier Award nominee Duncan Macmillan's highly acclaimed new play, Every Brilliant Thing, opened last night, December 14 at Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street). Featuring Jonny Donahoe and directed by George Perrin, the Paines Plough and Pentabus Theatre Company production of Every Brilliant Thing comes to New York fresh off its smash hit, much-raved-over engagements in London and Edinburgh, as well as a UK tour. Alan Menken, Brian Yorkey & Jessie Nelson Working on CORRINA, CORRINA Musical for Audra McDonald

Earlier today it was announced that The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University, will present the world premiere of Waitress- a new musical directed by Diane Paulus and featuring book by Jessie Nelson and music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles. This wasn't the only big news from Nelson though. Nelson, who wrote, directed, and produced Corrina Corrina with Whoopi Golberg, is in the process of writing a musical version for Audra McDonald, with Alan Menken and Brian Yorkey. She is also co-writing Alice By Heart with Steven Sater, music by Duncan Sheik.

Ethan Khusidman & Terrence Mann Lead John Doyle-Helmed AUGUST RUSH Musical Workshop Today

Producers Southpaw Entertainment (Richard Lewis, CEO) and CJ E&M (Byeong-seok Kim, Senior Vice President) previously announced that August Rush, a new musical based on the critically acclaimed and Oscar nominated 2007 motion picture, which starred Robin Williams and Freddie Highmore, will have a developmental lab presentation today and tomorrow, December 9 and 10, 2014.

Mike Bencivenga to Receive Abingdon's 2014 Christopher Brian Wolk Award

Abingdon Theatre Company announces that playwright Mike Bencivenga, author of the recent Off-Broadway hit Billy & Ray, will receive its 2014 Christopher Brian Wolk Award for his play SUMMER ON FIRE. A presentation of the award and staged reading of the play is set for Monday, December 15, starting at 7:00pm in the June Havoc Theatre, 312 West 36th Street, in Manhattan.
