Atlanta theatergoers invited to enjoy spunky musical about a perfectly imperfect family

The winners of the 13th Annual Suzi Bass Awards have been decided!

The Suzi Bass Awards revealed nominations for the 2016-2017 Atlanta professional theatre season on Monday evening, September 18, to patrons and industry artists.

Serenbe Playhouse, recipient of the prestigious American Theatre Wing grant (2015), will present the second show in its 2016 Intimate Indoors season, ART, by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton.

As I'm conditioning my hair and applying every essential oil known to man on my scalp, I am reflecting on the production I saw yesterday evening. I had the pleasure of seeing 'da Kink in My Hair at the Horizon Theatre in Atlanta. The play was nothing short of amazing.

From long-running international sell-outs to a TV show, 'DA KINK IN MY HAIR by Trey Anthony sweeps into Horizon Theatre in Atlanta this summer beginning tonight, July 15. A musical sensation, 'da Kink tells of love, hope, survival and redemption through eight women's trials and celebrations. Synchronicity Theatre presents THE LAST TIME WE WERE HERE, a new folk-rock musical, by Jeremiah Parker Hobbs and Jessica De Maria. This special event runs for one weekend only, June 17-19 at Synchronicity Theatre in Midtown Atlanta. Performances are at 8pm Friday and Saturday and 5pm Sunday.

Metro Atlanta audiences, still buzzing from Calendar Girls, will next be treated to a big, bold, accessible production as GET dives into Shakespeare for the first time in its 23-year history. GET and Atlanta favorite David Crowe will be directing, and promises a Romeo & Juliet that will be appreciated by both the novice and the Shakespearean scholar. This long-loved show is now poised to touch in new ways a generation that was around when it opened on Broadway in the early 60s, and an entirely new generation as well.
