Pig Iron Theatre Company to Premiere A PERIOD OF ANIMATE EXISTENCE at Philadelphia Fringe

Pig Iron Theatre Company, the internationally acclaimed, Philadelphia-based organization, has announced that the world premiere of its ambitious, timely production A Period of Animate Existence will take place September 22-24 at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Pennsylvania in the 2017 Fringe Festival, co-presented by FringeArts and Annenberg Center Live.

PLAYING WITH FIRE, THE THEO FLEURY STORY Opens Centaur's 49 Season

Centaur Theatre opens its 49th season with Playing With Fire: The Theo Fleury Story, an epic, reckless, and inspirational tale based on the life of one of Canada's most outstanding hockey players, running October 3 to 29, 2017. Directed by Ron Jenkins and starring Shaun Smyth in the one-man virtuous performance of a lifetime, the multi-award-winning Playing With Fire premiered at Alberta Theatre Projects in 2012 and has subsequently earned rave reviews and held both theatre goers and hockey fans spellbound in Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Hamilton, Regina, and now Montreal.

E! Premieres Season Seven of Sizzling Hot Series TOTAL DIVAS, 11/1

E! and WWE 's TOTAL DIVAS returns for its fiery and fierce seventh season beginning Wednesday, November 1 at 9 pm ET/PT. Brie Bella , Nikki Bella , Naomi (Trinity), Natalya (Nattie), Lana and Maryse will join newcomers Carmella, Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss.

Cal Shakes Announces 2018 Season

California Shakespeare Theater (Cal Shakes) today announced its 2018 Season of firsts at the Bruns Amphitheater: Quixote by Octavio Solis, adapted from Don Quixote by Miguel Cervantes, June 13-July 1; the West Coast premiere of Everybody by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, July 18-August 5; and The War of the Roses, adapting William Shakespeare's historical tetralogy covering Henry VI, parts 1, 2, and 3, and Richard III, August 22-September 9. Cast and creative teams for each will be announced at a later date.

Riot with Three Come to Bridge Street Theatre on 9/30

The dynamic classical trio Riot with Three Alison Davy, soprano, Javier Oviedo, saxophone, and Gene Rohrer, piano make a triumphant return to Catskill's intimate Bridge Street Theatre on Saturday September 30 at 7:30 pm with an eclectic evening of contemporary and classical chamber works entitled 'The Nature of Music'. In this exquisite and wide-ranging program, which includes works by Handel, Hoiby, Assad, Laitman, Arnold, and Borgia, the ensemble celebrates everything from the grandeur of the great outdoors to sugar addiction with a vibrant combination of unbridled joy and dazzling technical expertise.

Boston Ballet presents BB@HOME, 10/6

Six Boston Ballet dancers will present premieres of their own choreography, featuring fellow Company members, at Dancer/Dance-makers, October 6, 2017, at 7:30 pm at Boston Ballet's South End headquarters (19 Clarendon Street).

BWW Review: BIG NIGHT Starts Humorously but Changes Direction After a Senseless Attack

Master satirist Paul Rudnick blends a deep humanity with a honed sense of hilarity in this powerful and funny play about family and fame, the personal and the political, and the drive to stand up and speak out. But it is also one that promotes a very progressive political stance on human rights, especially within the gay community, with much of the dialogue presented as if they are soapbox speeches meant to sway the listener to take action. But given our current political circumstances, there is nothing wrong with encouraging people to take a stand and speak out to make the world a better and more equal place for everyone.

BWW Review: MY LOVE - MY LUMBERJACK at B3 - A Weekend of Perovich Part I

Shrewdly directed by the great Ilana Lydia, B3's searing production of My Love, My Lumberjack opened last Friday and runs for only two more performances, next weekend. The piece is presented on B3's modest, storefront stage, however the production feels remarkably eerie and magical - and, GLORY BE, the voices aren't amplified!
