THIS IS BIG, so far as thoughtful, intellectually provocative, often hilarious century spanning contemporary dance investigations go. 2016 marks the 25th anniversary of Big Dance Theater, as one of the most compelling and innovative ensembles in New York. Under the artistic leadership of Annie-B Parson and Paul Lazar, who have honed a distinctive dance theater performance style that has been disrupting, and influencing, the urban downtown scene for the last 25 years, BDT has created a body of literate, archeological, mind-bending work that is unique in the field of performance, one at the forefront of experimentation hybridity and functional eccentricity.

?On Sunday July 10, CATCH - "everyone's favorite" Brooklyn-based, hydra-headed, multi-disciplinary, rough-and-ready series of performance events - forges back upriver to re-conquer Basilica Hudson. After a standing-room-only crowd on their maiden voyage to the Hudson Valley last summer, they are pleased to deploy a new squadron of the finest artists laying claim to NYC, the Hudson Valley-or both.  

Berkeley Playhouse will produce the first non-musical in its nine-year history with Christopher Sergel's adaptation of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. The show will be directed by Berkeley Playhouse's Producing Artistic Director Daren A.C. Carollo (Berkeley Playhouse's Peter Pan, Hairspray; Broadway: A Time to Kill; Off-Broadway: bare The Musical; Regional: Diablo Theatre Company, City Lights Theatre Company, Napa Valley Opera House, Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre, Town Hall Theatre Company). As part of the inaugural Tilt Kids Festival, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF) present The Total People, a new commission by 600 HIGHWAYMEN and the company's first work for young audiences. The Total People is a combination of things: a parade, a choir, a dance, and a collection of video portraits. As with past events, 600 HIGHWAYMEN continues to construct expansive performances that illuminate the poignancy and theatricality of people coming together. Their work examines presence and humanity, not only in the performance, but in process and aftermath. Sound design by Brandon Wolcott, video design by Jeff Larson, and produced by Andrew Dinwiddie.

The L. Ron Hubbard Theatre located in Hollywood, one block west of the Chinese Theatre, will feature a live production of the western romance, 'Tinhorn's Daughter' this coming Saturday, November 7 and 14. Sunset is the only man able to take on tinhorn, Slim Trotwood, a cruel, land grabber who by fraud or by force has accumulated vast areas of valuable land. It seems simple until the Tinhorn's Daughter enters the picture. November 7: With the current Academy of Western Artists (AWA) award winner and Western Music radio chart topper, Ian Espinoza, as pre-show entertainment, guests are guaranteed a great night out. November 14: The UK's top swing band, The Jive Aces, will be providing pre-show entertainment with enough energy generated to light up the town. The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) is pleased to announce the lineup for SpinOff 2015 taking place November 5-21. A celebration of contemporary dance created by emerging and established artists from the Midwest, SpinOff will feature Chicago and world premieres, as well as excerpts from works-in-progress. All performances are FREE and take place in various locations including the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington Street), Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park (201 E. Randolph) and the Storefront Theater (66 E. Randolph).
