Downtown theater stalwart Jean Cocteau Repertory has shed its longtime home at the Bouwerie Lane Theatre, expanded its mission, and has been rechristened The Exchange.
After over thirty-five years in the theatre business, leading Off-Broadway company the Jean Cocteau Repertory Theater has closed. The owners of the Bouwerie Lane Theater, home of the Jean Cocteau since 1974, had recently doubled the theater's rent. There is no word yet on who will be the next tenant to occupy the space.
Crazy for the Dog - a new dark comedy written by Christopher Boal and
directed by Eric Parness - will be given a 7-week commercial Off-Broadway extension by Rachel Reiner Productions LLC in association with Jean Cocteau Repertory with performances resuming July 11 at the Bouwerie Lane Theatre (330 Bowery) in Manhattan
