SCANDAL Among ABC's 45 Emmy Nominations!

ABC received 45 nominations for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards this morning, including nods for Kerry Washington and Connie Britton, both for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

James C. Nicholson Wins Kentucky's Literary Award

University Press of Kentucky author James C. Nicholson has been named as the recipient of the Southern Kentucky Book Fest's Kentucky Literary Award for his book The Kentucky Derby: How the Run for the Roses Became America's Premier Sporting Event. First awarded in 2003, the Kentucky Literary Award is a celebration of Kentucky literature. Eligible books include those written by Kentuckians or books with a substantial Kentucky theme. The award is given to fiction and nonfiction titles in alternating years. Nicholson was announced at the "Meet the Authors" event held on April 19, the evening before the Southern Kentucky Book Fest. This year, two other UPK titles were named among the five finalists, including A Few Honest Words: The Kentucky Roots of Popular Music by Jason Howard and Arab and Jewish Women in Kentucky: Stories of Accommodation and Audacity by Nora Rose Moosnick.

Womack, Szot Lead SOUTH PACIFIC UK Tour

Paulo Szot, who has recently emerged as one of the most exciting voices in opera and who won a Tony for his performance as Emile de Becque in the Lincoln Center Theater (Andre Bishop, Artistic Director, Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) production of SOUTH PACIFIC, will be recreating the role of the French plantation owner at the Barbican Centre in London, where the production will run for a limited season of 7 weeks only from 15 August to 1 October, with an opening night on 23 August.

Samantha Womack Extends in SOUTH PACIFIC Tour

Samantha Womack is now confirmed to be playing Nellie Forbush for additional cities in 2012 on the current nationwide tour of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical SOUTH PACIFIC. Originally, she was going to finish in Oxford, but it is now confirmed that she will continue in the tour in Southampton, Birmingham and Liverpool.

SOUTH PACIFIC Ends Run at Barbican Theatre October 1

The most acclaimed production ever of Rodgers and Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC comes to the end of its seven-week season at London's Barbican Theatre this Saturday 1 October. SOUTH PACIFIC is currently playing to over 85% financial capacity at the Barbican and is already sold out several dates across the UK tour, where extra performances have had to be added.
