The Public Theater announced complete casting today for the world premiere of CULLUD WATTAH, written by 2021 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize winner Erika Dickerson-Despenza and directed by Candis C. Jones.

Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Patrick Willingham announced the line-up today for The Public’s 2021-22 Season, returning to their landmark home on 425 Lafayette Street after the year-long pandemic shutdown with a robust slate of new productions and ongoing  programming.

The Public Theater announced today the return of THE LINE, written by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen and directed by Blank. First performed live on Zoom on July 8, 2020, the world premiere play was viewed more than 55,000 times in 18 countries during its limited streaming run last summer.

The Public Theater and WNYC Studios will debut the bilingual audio adaptation of Romeo y Julieta on Thursday, March 18. Featuring Lupita Nyong’o and Juan Castano as the star-crossed lovers, this world premiere production has been adapted by Saheem Ali and Ricardo Pérez González, based on the Spanish translation by Alfredo Michel Modenessi.

The world premiere play THE LINE, which premiered live on July 8, has been extended an additional four weeks for on demand streaming through Tuesday, September 1 at 11:59pm est on The Public's YouTube.

The Public Theater's The Line, written by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen and directed by Blank, debuted on Wednesday, July 8 at 7:30 pm ET. Two River Theater (TRT) has launched its 2019/20 Season with a production that is sure to please. 'Cyrano' by Jason O'Connell and Brenda Withers is adapted from the 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac written by Edmond Rostand. The TRT show is directed by Meredith McDonough and presented as a co-production with the critically acclaimed Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival based in Garrison, New York.

New City Stage Company finishes its successful 7th season with the regional premiere of Adam Rapp's play about the life of a professional wrestler --AMERICAN SLIGO. The play takes place during the family dinner for Art 'Crazy Train' Sligo on the day of his final match. The show is the 5th production of the 2012-13 season, entitled 'The New American Dysfunctional Family.' Previews begin tonight, May 30 and opening night is Saturday, June 1 at 8 PM. The show is being performed at the Adrienne Theatre Skybox.
