Jazz at Lincoln Center payed tribute to cabaret icon Bobby Short, with host James Naughton on May 15, and Michael Feinstein on May 16. Music Director Tedd Firth exhibits Short's signature songs alongside some of today's brightest stars of cabaret and Broadway, including guest vocalists Paula West, T. The Broadway production 'Old Jews Telling Jokes' came to the Friars Club last night for an evening full of laughter produced by Michelle Slonim. Creators Sam Hoffman and Peter Gethers gave an interesting talk and video presentation about the shows formation. Marilyn Sokol and Lenny Wolpe from the cast of 'Old Jews' told some side splitting jokes from the show. Stewie Stone 'head comic' at the Friars had some of his own hilarious stories and also introduced various Friars who contributed to the joke telling.

It is no accident that Jerome Kern is also known as 'The Dean.' Author and Lyrics & Lyricists series artistic director Deborah Grace Winer takes the helm as artistic director/writer/host for The Song is You: Jerome Kern Coast to Coast, which continues tonight, on May 6. Winer is joined by vocalists Karrin Allyson, Debby Boone, Jeffry Denman, bassist Jay Leonhart, Howard McGillin, Paula West and Karen Ziemba, with special guest Barbara Carroll. The Off-Broadway League today gave out awards in 14 categories and two additional special awards for the 2013 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards were handed out on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at NYU Skirball Center, hosted by acclaimed stage and screen actors Aasif Mandvi and Maura Tierney. This year's event once again benefited The Actors Fund.

The Off-Broadway League previously announced award nominations in 14 categories and two additional special awards for the 2013 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards will be handed out today, May 5, 2013 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00pm EST, and hosted by acclaimed stage and screen actors Aasif Mandvi and Maura Tierney. This year's event will once again benefit The Actors Fund.

The annual National Meningitis Association (NMA) Give Kids a Shot Gala was once again an emotion filled evening but a stellar success in aiding the fight against meningitis, a potentially vaccine preventable disease. Held in the elegant ballrooms of the historic New York Athletic Club with phenomenal views of Central Park as a backdrop, hundreds of New York's movers and shakers turned out to support the cause and also to congratulate meningitis survivor & Para Olympic Gold Medalist Nick Springer, an Honorary Chair along with Ambassador & Mrs. John L. There are only a few more performances to catch for Gerard Alessandrini's FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: ALIVE AND KICKING! at the 47th Street Theatre (304 West 47th Street). The smash musical, which received unanimous raves from critics and audiences alike, broke all box-office records at the 47th Street Theatre and won spots on the Top Ten Lists of Time Magazine and the Associated Press, will begin its hiatus on Sunday, April 28, in order to make room for The Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre's own season, as required by the show's lease agreement with the theatre.

The Drama League (Executive Director, Gabriel Shanks) has announced the 2013 Drama League Awards Nominees for Distinguished Play, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and Distinguished Performance Award.
