The Town Hall to Present Jason Moran and Robin D.G. Kelly in Conversation

The Town Hall is celebrating its first 100 years, and is proud to announce a special virtual event to honor Thelonious Monk. On Monday, April 11 at 7PM, MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellow Jason Moran will be in conversation with Robin D. G. Kelly, an American historian and the Gary B. Nash professor of American History at UCLA.

Jane's Walk 2022 Will Spotlight Four Historic Districts In Harlem

Jane's Walk has returned to New York with in-person experiences. In addition, local groups are highlighting four historic districts in Harlem simultaneously - the Mt. Morris Historic District, the Central Harlem Historic District, Striver's Row, and the newly designated Dorrance Brooks Historic District.

Tin Pan Alley Day Concert In Flatiron District Celebrates Birthplace Of American Popular Music

The Tin Pan Alley American Popular Music Project in collaboration with the Flatiron 23rd Street Partnership will present a free, outdoor public concert at the Flatiron North Plaza on 23rd Street/Broadway on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM. The event will feature more than two dozen leading performers of Tin Pan Alley music and the Great American Songbook. The rain date is Sunday, October 24.

Carnegie Hall Launches New Digital Collections Preview Of Select Archival Collections

Carnegie Hall today announced the launch of its new online Digital Collections, inviting the general public to search, explore, and download more than 80,000 recently digitized historic items from its archives for the very first time. This initial preview, drawn from the Hall's legacy collections, offers a window into the richly diverse history of events at the Hall since its opening in 1891, with an emphasis on the Hall's earliest decades. It includes Carnegie Hall concert programs from 1891–1925; flyers; photographs; correspondence; newspaper clippings; autographs; booking ledger pages; and a select number of promotional films. The goal of this digital initiative is to provide broader public access to the Hall's archival collections, providing a new way for people to engage with Carnegie Hall's history and share it with others.

Harlem Welcomes The 369th EXPERIENCE FOR MEMORIAL Weekend Concert

Harlem One Stop today announced a free special Memorial Day Weekend concert by The 369th Experience in celebration of the Harlem Renaissance Centennial and the Harlem Hell Fighters. The ensemble will perform a program of music by ragtime and early jazz bandleader James Reese Europe. The free outdoor performance will be presented from 7:00-8:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 25 at Marcus Garvey Park (Mt. Morris Park West between East 120th-124th Streets) in Harlem.

James Reese Presents Europe WWI Centennial Tribute Concert

American ragtime and early jazz bandleader, arranger, and composer, James Reese Europe, will be celebrated at a World War I Centennial Tribute Concert on June 8, 2018 at Symphony Space. The evening will be presented by New York Jazzharmonic Traditional Jazz Sextet under the baton of Ron Wasserman and vocalist Aubrey Barnes. Presented in collaboration with the United States World War I Centennial Commission and the New York Veteran's Alliance.

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra's Classical Roots Returns To Renovated Cincinnati Music Hall

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO)'s Classical Roots returns to historic Cincinnati Music Hall on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. following the iconic hall's extensive $143 million renovation. An unwritten portion of Music Hall's rich and diverse history will be explored and celebrated in this year's highly anticipated, one-night-only performance conducted by John Morris Russell with the theme, "Under One Roof."
