HOLLER IF YA HEAR ME, written by Todd Kreidler and directed by Kenny Leon, blazes to life in a non-biographical story about friendship, family, revenge, change and hope. Inner city lives struggle for peace against the daily challenges they face in this entertaining and original musical. Through the poetry of one of the 20th century's most influential and culturally prominent voices, we are given a window into realities of the streets still relevant today. The show opened last night, June 19 at the Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway at 47th Street), and BroadwayWorld was there for all of the festivities. The York Theatre Company just presented its one-night only benefit concert, NEO 10, celebrating up and coming musical theatre writers, on Monday evening, June 2, 2014 The York Theatre Company's home at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). The NEO 10 concert featured songs by this year's NEO writers: Bobby Cronin, Gabriel Kahane, Shaina Taub, andSam Willmott. The evening will also include songs by guest writers (and past NEO honorees) Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The evening, directed by Annette Jolles, with music direction by David Shenton, included previously announced performances by Starr Busby, Liz Callaway, Kate Ferber, Grace Mclean, Andy Mientus, Kristin Sieh, Phillipa Soo, and the ensemble from Marymount Manhattan College. On Monday June 2, Broadway vet and Epic recording artist Morgan James (Motown, Godspell) will bring her powerhouse vocals to (le) poisson rouge to celebrate the release of HUNTER, her debut studio album of original soul tunes on Epic Records. Classic and modern: horns, full band, lush and funky, she will sing from the new album, including her first single "I Want You", and sign CDs after the show.

The York Theatre Company celebrates the great American lyricist Marshall Barer (Once Upon a Mattress) with a special concert event, The Marshall Barer Project, a musical tour through the life, career and mind of a man whose songs are shimmering jewels from the American Songbook. Starring BJ Ward with special guest Michael Feinstein. The Cutting Room will once again host MOTOWN THE MUSICAL's three-time Grammy Award nominated Ryan Shaw on Monday, April 21 at 8:30pm. Doors open at 8:00pm. The Tony Award nominated Brandon Victor Dixon and Epic Recording Artist Morgan James will join Ryan as special guests.

Due to popular demand, The York Theatre Company has announced a one-week extension of the world premiere production of the new musical revue, Inventing Mary Martin, that will now play through Sunday afternoon, May 25, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at The York Theatre Company's home at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue) where performances began earlier this week on April 15. Opening Night is Sunday evening, April 27, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.

THE CUTTING ROOM will once again host RYAN SHAW, the two time Grammy nominee and star of MOTOWN The Musical (Stevie Wonder) on Broadway, on Monday evening, April 21 at 8:30pm (doors are at 8). Motown's Brandon Dixon and Epic Recording Artist Morgan James, will join Ryan at the April 21 show.

Ben Edquist, of Houston, won the $15,000 First Prize in the finals of the 2014 Lotte Lenya Competition, sponsored by the Kurt Weill Foundation for Music and held on April 12, 2014, in Kilbourn Hall of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. Arlo Hill, of New York, won the Second Prize of $10,000, and the Third Prize of $7,500 was awarded to Natalie Ballenger, also of New York.
