In case you missed the news, after becoming the first major American opera company to respond to stay-at-home orders by launching an acclaimed series of LA Opera At Home online offerings, the company is now making streaming a permanent part of its programming.

The Colburn School has partnered with LA Opera to present the company premiere of The Anonymous Lover (L'Amant Anonyme), a 1780 opera by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges (1745-1799), who is widely regarded as the first Black classical composer known to history.

While LA Opera awaits its cue to return to live performances onstage, the company has turned to creating an array of online content through the LA Opera At Home initiative, which will soon expand to include a series of exciting new Digital Shorts commissions.

Continuing its dedication to the research, recovery and recording of marginalized composers and music lost to political suppression, ARC Ensemble presents “Chamber Works by Walter Kaufmann,” the fourth in its acclaimed series of Music in Exile recordings for Chandos. The CD is slated for release on August 28, 2020.

It's hardly a secret that during the Met's shutdown, the company has been treating audiences with nightly telecasts of everything from the company's current 'Live In HD' series to some scratchy videos that still had decent sound. All of them, however, can also be found on the Met's online subscription series, THE MET OPERA ON DEMAND, along with some audio highlights of extraordinary Saturday afternoon broadcasts. Los Angeles Opera's Music Director James Conlon sets the stage for the company's upcoming audio-stream of Richard Wagner's epic, four-part cycle, Der Ring des Nibelungen with a new podcast. Commemorating the ten-year anniversary of the company's first complete presentation of the Ring Cycle, opera fans can watch a marathon, back-to-back audio stream of all four works on Saturday, July 25.
