Lyric Opera of Chicago General Director Anthony Freud announced today four additional performances due to popular demand for Lyric Opera of Chicago's new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's beloved Broadway musical The Sound of Music, April 25-May 25, 2014, at the Civic Opera House, 20 N. Wacker Drive. Additional performance dates are Today, May 23 at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 24 at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, May 25 at 1:30 p.m. Tickets start at $29 and are available now at lyricopera.org/soundofmusic or at 312-827-5600.

Billy Zane, star of James Cameron's international blockbuster Titanic and critically acclaimed for his portrayal of Billy Flynn in Broadway's Chicago, has been cast as Captain von Trapp, completing principal casting for Lyric Opera of Chicago's new production of The Sound of Music, tonight, April 25-May 18, 2014.

As previously announced, James Cameron is working on three sequels for Avatar, which hit the big screen in 2009. On Reddit, Cameron offered an update on his progress. He wrote, 'The second, third and fourth films all go into production simultaneously. They're essentially all in preproduction now, because we are designing creatures, settings, and characters that span all three films. And we should be finished with all three scripts within the next, I would say, six weeks.'

ROCKY hit Broadway last night, officially opening with stars Andy Karl and Margo Seibert at Broadway's historic Winter Garden Theatre. The show features an original score by Stephen Flahertyand Lynn Ahrens and a book by Thomas Meehan and Sylvester Stallone, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the 1976 Oscar-winning Best Picture, Rocky.The production is directed by Alex Timbers, with choreography by Steven Hoggett, and Kelly Devine. Fame and Philanthropy Oscar Night Event announced today that Grammy Award winning, multi-platinum artist and founder of the Compound Foundation, NE-YO, will be performing live at the historic event. Additionally, Cash Money Records DJ duo, Stafford Brothers, will be spinning throughout the evening. Previously announced special guests include James Cameron and Charlize Theron. The inaugural event will be held at a private location in Beverly Hills, CA on Sunday, March 2nd.

A new adaptation of Meredith Willson's classic musical THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN will kick off the Denver Center Theatre Company's 2014/15 season, according to Producing Artistic Director Kent Thompson. Three-time Tony Award nominee Dick Scanlan combines his spirited new book with never before heard songs from the catalogue of Willson, who is also creator of the beloved The Music Man. The production will be helmed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall as director and choreographer.
