The inaugural Brooklyn edition of the No. 19 Social Experiment features Art Department, the critically acclaimed brainchild of Kenny Glasgow and No. 19 label owner Jonny White, with UK's Eric Volta who just released his stunning 'Blood Burgundy' EP on No. 19, and Brooklyn's own Cameo Culture. In the Panther Room is soulful house music legend Osunlade and No. 19 label co-owner Nitin. The forthcoming No. 19 Social Experiment dates will include a rotating cast of special guests to help celebrate the label's five year anniversary.

It's becomes very clear very quickly, when talking to Rupert Holmes, that writing the libretto for The Nutty Professor-which paired him with composer Marvin Hamlisch-has been an astonishing and inspiring experience for the man whose resume is filled with noteworthy achievements in theater, music, publishing and, practically, any endeavor of self-expression that one can name. Yet, as Holmes remembers his friend, his collaborator and his fellow musical theater legend, it is apparent that Hamlisch's sudden death this week has left an indelible imprint upon him.

For her October shows the title should have been Jamie deRoy & her very talented Songwriter friends. Jamie, as she always does, interacts with her guest artists in a way that stimulates them to give performances that are unique and hugely entertaining. As William Finn (who appeared in a prior Jamie deRoy & Friends) remarked, 'Jamie's interview of me was the best I've ever had'. The show was directed by Jamie's extremely creative friend Barry Kleinbort who also displayed his wonderful performance abilities. Music Director was Shelly Markham.
