Singer Michael Solomon Williams talks about the evolution of the annual not-for-profit concert, 'Common and Kind', which is held in the Union Chapel in Islington, London. In a climate of rife intolerance, racism, rising nationalism, this joyously uplifting concert series is a spectacularly collaborative effort from a vast gamut of the city's communities and international artists who have come together with a simple yet powerful aspiration: to employ language - and music - to unite us.

On June 20, jazz prodigy Bryan Carter is proud to present JAZZ AT PRIDE, a one-night only concert event celebrating the LGBTQIA+ Community at (le) poisson rouge. The performance will feature a compilation of world-class musicians including Michael Blume, Linda Briceño, Cat Cohen, J. Hoard, Alphonso Horne, Brandon Lee, Sherrie Maricle, Michael Mwenso, Dida Pelled, Vuyo Sotashe, Charenee Wade, and 2019 Tony Award winner for Best Performance by a Leading Actor, Santino Fontana, all backed by the 22-piece Young Swangers Orchestra.

Through a year-long engagement with the Kennedy Center, Citizen Artists receive a national platform through which to advance their work; performance and career development opportunities; and mentorship from Kennedy Center leadership. On April 26, 2018-2019 Citizen Artist Fellow Rulan Tangen, with her company Dancing Earth, will showcase …SEEDS: RE GENERATION… This immersive, interdisciplinary, and participatory contemporary dance ritual evolved from Dancing Earth's intertribal artists in exchanges with Native elders, farmers, foragers, seed savers, and food and water justice groups, envisioning the restoring/restory-ing of land and people.

The John F. Kennedy Center announces the full lineup for DIRECT CURRENT, its two-week celebration of contemporary culture, which returns for a second season this spring (March 24-April 7).

National Sawdust continues its fourth season, HEAR IT NEW!, this spring. The organization expands its commitment to the local and national arts scenes through presentations by nationally and internationally acclaimed artists, and expands its mission beyond its physical walls through a new series.
