Celebrating her 13th solo appearance at Carnegie Hall, pianist Katya Grineva presents an evening of romantic piano in memory of her mother, Irina Grineva. Reflecting on the elements of love, the program showcases works by several of the great romantic composers of the piano including Chopin, Schubert, Liszt, Ravel, Satie, Bloch, De Falla, Gurdjieff-De Hartmann and Rimsky-Korsakov. Cellist Inbal Segev to be Featured in Hudson Chamber Society, 10/22

Cellist Inbal Segev, known for her “warm, pure and beautiful” tone (Strings Magazine), will perform with pianistMirian Conti, violinist Benjamin Breen, and violist Dov Scheindlin in a Rush Hour chamber music concert presented by the Hudson Chamber Society (of which Breen is the Artistic Director) on Tuesday, October 22 at 7:00pm at the Yamaha Piano Salon (689 Fifth Avenue, NYC). The program will include Mozart's Piano Quartet in G minor and a performance of Piazzolla's The Grand Tango for cello and piano by Segev and Conti.

NY Philharmonic's 'Insights Series' Now Free; 2013-14 Lineup Announced

Beginning with the 2013-14 season, the New York Philharmonic's Insights Series - in which artists and experts will explore some of the season's themes and concerts - will now be free, and take place at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center. This season's events will include discussions with Concertmaster Glenn Dicterow during his farewell season (October 23); composer-conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen and violinist Leila Josefowicz (October 28), who will discuss Mr. Salonen's Violin Concerto, written for Ms. Josefowicz (which they will perform with the Philharmonic in its New York Concert Premiere, October 30-November 5); Music Director Alan Gilbert and Executive Director Matthew VanBesien on the state of the Philharmonic (March 3, 2014); The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Yefim Bronfman (May 20, 2014), who will talk about Beethoven's piano concertos (which he will perform during The Beethoven Piano Concertos: A Philharmonic Festival, June 11-28, 2014); and discussions relating to the NY PHIL BIENNIAL, the details of which will be announced at a later date.

The Sherman Chamber Ensemble has announced that the international piano virtuoso Benjamin Hochman will be the guest artist for the opening concerts of its 2013 Summer Concert Series on July 12th at St. Andrew's Church in Kent and July 13th at the Lake Mauweehoo Club in Sherman. Hochman will join Ensemble regulars Jill levy (violin), Susan Rotholz (flute) and Eliot Bailen (cello) for a program including Haydn's Piano Trio in E Major, Sonata in A Major for flute and piano by Cesar Franck and the Shostakovich Piano Trio No. 2 in E Minor.

Sonny Rollins Celebrity Series Performance Cancelled, 9/28

Due to illness, Sonny Rollins has been forced to cancel his Celebrity Series of Boston performance on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 8pm at the Boston Opera House. The event was also to serve as the highlight performance of the Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival. Rollins says, 'Due to a recent illness I am unable to perform my upcoming concert in Boston. I am disappointed but I hope to recover soon and I want to thank my many fans who are so loyal to me.'

America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival, Music Mountain, continues its 84th season with America's foremost Gilbert & Sullivan repertory ensemble, the New YorK Gilbert & Sullivan Players, tonight, June 22nd (6:30PM) ----And for Anglo enthusiasts, there is a special pre-Concert 1880's British themed dinner at the Falls Village Inn slated for 5PM. Also this weekend are two exceptional concerts on Sunday June 23rd: the acclaimed Hausmann String Quartet at3PM, with guest artist Jonathan Yates, piano and at 5:30pm,Tobias Steymans, violin and Victoria Schwartzman, piano, will play Leclair, Beethoven & Strauss. Music Mountain's 13-week schedule will feature seventeen Chamber Music concerts, a twilight series of Jazz, Big Band and Country Music concerts, and the first ever Folk Music Jamboree.
