16th Street Theater's 2020 Season Thirteen Announced

16th Street Theater announces Season Thirteen 2020: Redemption featuring two National New Play Network (NNPN) rolling world premieres by playwrights Maya Malan-Gonzalez and Audrey Cefaly, one world premiere by Julie Marie Myatt in collaboration with MC-10 Playwrights' Ensemble, one Chicago premiere by Lisa Langford co-produced with Pegasus Theatre Chicago with director Ilesa Duncan at the helm, and two true tales by Chicago writer/performers Steven Strafford and Debbie Baños.

Pegasus Theatre Chicago is proud to announce the authors and plays being presented at the 32nd Young Playwrights Festival, January 3 - 27, 2019 at Pegasus's resident home Chicago Dramatists, 773 N. Aberdeen. The productions are performed in tandem Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Previews are Thursday, Jan. 3 - Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Press opening is Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $18 for students, $25 for seniors and $30 for general admission and are available at PegasusTheatreChicago.org or by phone at 773.878.8864.

Aberdeen. Opening/press night is Monday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. The performance schedule is Thursdays - Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. with added Saturday 3 p.m. or Sunday 7:00 p.m. performances (TBD). Ilesa Duncan Joins Lifeline Theatre as Artistic Director

Lifeline Theatre welcomes Ilesa Duncan as artistic director beginning January 2019. Reporting directly to Lifeline's Board of Directors and working in partnership with Managing Director Allison Cain, Duncan will be responsible for stewarding the vision of the artistic ensemble, engaging and inspiring Lifeline's extended family, seeking out meaningful collaborative opportunities and upholding the mission of the organization. Duncan succeeds Dorothy Milne, who has served as artistic director since 1999 and will continue in the role until Duncan's duties commence in January 2019. Duncan joins the Lifeline artistic ensemble immediately and Milne will continue as a member of the artistic body following her departure from her artistic director role. Meanwhile, Lifeline's 2018-19 season will open with the world premiere MainStage production of Frankenstein (running September 7-October 8) and the KidSeries production of Bunnicula (running October 20-November 25).

Pegasus Theatre Receives NEA Grant For Young Playwrights Festival

National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $25 million in grants as part of the NEA's first major funding announcement for fiscal year 2018.  Included in this announcement is an Art Works grant of $15,000 to Pegasus Theatre Chicago for the Young Playwrights Festival year-round program. The Art Works category is the NEA's largest funding category and supports projects that focus on the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, public engagement with diverse and excellent art, lifelong learning in the arts, and/or the strengthening of communities through the arts.
