Pegasus Players to Present 27th Annual Young Playwrights Festival, 1/2-26

Pegasus Players rings in the New Year with its 27th Annual Young Playwrights Festival, an annual professional production of next-generation, one-act plays written by Chicago teens. The 2014 production features three new works by emerging playwrights. Performances are at National Pastime/Preston Bradley Center, 941 W. Lawrence, 4th Floor. Previews are Thursday January 2 through Saturday January 4 at 7:30 p.m. Press and Opening Ceremony is Sunday January 5 at 3 p.m. Performance continue January 10 through 25 on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. For tickets contact the box office at 773-878-8864, or online at www.PegasusPlayers.org.

16th Street Theater proudly announces the extension of BROKEN FENCES written by Steven Simoncic and co-directed by 16th Street's Artistic Director Ann Filmer and Ilesa Duncan (Artistic Director, Pegasus Players) thru Saturday, Nov 9 at North Berwyn Park District's 16th Street Theater, 6420 16th Street in Berwyn.Starring Daniel Bryant (Artistic Director, Congo Square Theatre), BROKEN FENCES focuses on two neighboring couples, one black and one white, in Chicago's gentrifying Garfield Park. Winner of an American Theatre Wing National Theatre Grant and named'Best Emerging Theater 2013' by Chicago Magazine, 16th Street concludes its 2013 Season Six: The American Dream with BROKEN FENCES.

Chicago Dramatists Welcomes Meghan Beals McCarthy as Artistic Director

Chicago Dramatists, 1105 W. Chicago Ave., is proud to announce that Meghan Beals McCarthy has been hired as the theatre's new Associate Artistic Director. A director, dramaturg, arts administrator, and Associate Artist with Chicago Dramatists for several years, McCarthy was chosen after a nationwide search of over 80 applicants for the position. She will assume her position August 15.

The year-long celebration just keeps getting bigger for Chicago's All-Latina Theatre company,' says Managing Director Alex Meda as she announces the addition of two new projects in Teatro Luna's ambitious 10th anniversary season--which in total includes four world-premiere productions, two of which are Luna commissions of Latina playwrights, one ensemble-devised work (GL 2010- produced this past summer), a co-production with Bailiwick Chicago, a remount of 2007's smash hit MACHOS (Be A Man!), and a New Play Festival (LATINAS DO IT WRITE, Summer 2010). Additionally, Teatro Luna's unique training and development program, the Incubation Series, continues with exciting new expansions, including the launch of the third year of the the Lunadas Reading Series, with more plays by Latina/o playwrights from all over the country and beyond, receiving script development workshops and staged readings for a public audience. Also, the second year of the Luna PlayLabs and Directors Lab are joined by the launch of a new laboratory, the Producers Lab. This special new season marks Teatro Luna's 10th anniversary of producing new work and providing opportunities to Latinas both on and off the stage, and showcasing the work of talented Latina professionals from Chicago and across the nation.
